Can anyone recommend a 50/50 road/off road tyre for the GSA.

600 miles in (that's running in) and the rear Twinduro is just about worn out

I have a look around and there are a lot of older threads referring to tyres, I cant find any recent threads :-(

On the 1100 the TKC80 (Twinduro) used to wear alarmingly for the first 500-750 miles, but then as more rubber is on the road the wear rate decreases significantly. Used to get 4,000-5,000 out of a rear so I would expect between 3,000-4,000 for an LC.

nobody calls them Twinduros. They are Tkc80. had to do a double take on what was a twinduro.

50/50 tyre : karoo 3 , k60 , tkc80 , anakee wild.

.

The rate of wear does slow down. My rear TKC80 is looking pretty worn after 850 miles. But it will be good for a few thousand miles.

Top tip with TKCs: keep speed to 80mph or below. Otherwise wear rate is crazy. Besides if you are running in a WC, the max running in engine speed of 5000rpm is about 80mph....

Hello AndrewS, I use Metzler Tourance on my GSA they are a great intermediate tyre http://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Shop/Parts.php?T=5&NU=15&M=35&Ct=RG&SbCt=BA_15_35_RG_50&spPage=2

Rear Metzeler Tourance 150/70V17 WHA22480
Front Metzeler Tourance Next 110/80V19 | WHA12470

When i got the bike it had Bridgestone Battlewings, I didn't like em, I had Tourances on my 650 Dakar prior to the GSA so i changed the Battlewings for Tourances and they are great in all weathers the bike feels much better for it.

Twinduro is what it said on the invoice :D

Not sure about the K60's don't like the look of the 'full block' or constant contact around the middle of the tyre once worn a little. I'm thinking it would be shite off road. (My opinion from looking at the tread pattern on google images so I'm open to persuasion ;))

Karou 3 :thumb2

Anakee wild Does anyone know of a UK supplier?

have a set of Karoo3 waiting to be mounted. Should make off-roading much better compared to the useless 99/1 Anakee3. IMHO , these Anakee3s is basically a road tyre.

.

Thanks all for the info.

The Anakee Wild will NOT be available for the LC-GS/GSA

So ordered a Karoo3 for the rear to try out.

Believe me having done three trips on a 1200GS LC to Morocco last year and about 250 miles off road including sand (yuk) The Heidenau is a fantastic all round tyre. High mileage, good traction and very capable. Best combo is K60 front and K60 scout on the rear
