tyres - holding a corner line

I've covered a 100 miles or so on my Roadtec 01's now, and whilst I haven't pushed them yet there are several observations in comparison to the previous Anakees.

First of all, more comfortable.

Second less noise, to the extent that I'm hearing some nice whirring noises from the boxer that I hadn't noticed before.

Three, the biggie, the 01s keep the line in corners far better than the Anakees. Even when new, it seemed as if the Anakees front tyre wanted to 'toe-in' to the corner, if that makes sense.

I know there's all manner of tyre voodoo that makes one better than another, for certain situations. But the difference between the Roadtec's and the Anakees is so marked, I just wondered: what's the principal difference between tyres that means that one holds a line round a corner than another? I'm not necessarily talking about lean angle here, simply holding a line. Or did I simply have a bad front tyre?

IMHO the only reason is A3,s are made to go a little offroad, and the 01,s are a pure road tyre, hence more comfort, my A3,s front does tend to have a mind of its own also, however, I have learnt to live with it until next tyre change.

I imagine the more heavily blocked tread of the Anakee will make the tyre ‘walk’ slightly whilst cornering .......

These appear to be opposites to me, walking suggesting a tendency to run wide. I find the Anakee3 relatively neutral, if anything erring a little on the side of reluctance to turn in but holding a line well once there, so I wouldn't say they "toe in" but I can't say I've experienced any "walking" either.

Anakees a bit of feedback for anyone interested

Sorry to add to a pretty old thread, but in the decent weather we had last weekend I managed some spirited riding on my bike (GS1200 Rallye TE), which when purchased late last year was fitted with Anakee A3's. I noticed considerably more "walking" during cornering compared to any of my other GS's I have owned that were fitted with Tourances and Battleaxes.
I can't say that I have found them to be very noisy, as some have reported, buy definitely won't be replacing them with same when worn.

Cheers, Piggers
