Hi all,
Can anyone suggest a good (cheap?) ride in ride out tyre place in the south lakes?

I used to get all my tyres from Devonshire Service Station, in Ulverston. It was/is run by two brothers, both bikers and their prices were so good I made 160 mile round trips when I needed tyres. I get my tyres from a mate now, otherwise I'd still be going to Ulverston.

still run by the brothers and good range of tyres in stock. gets a bit busy at the weekends though.

whereabouts in Ulverstone are they? I'm new to the area so idiots directions would be good (or maybe a phone no?)

Thanks again fella's

Do you know if they're equipped to balance 1200 wheels?

If not I must give em a ring as my rear Tourance is knackered.

Michelin Road Pilots seem like the way ahead.

Why the road pilots? More grip? I was going to go for tourance. I need something that wears longer. How many miles did you get from your tourance?

Stratcat, I think it's on Devonshire Road, hence the name, but I'm not 100% on that. Try your yeller pages?

Stratcat, it is actually on Victoria Road in Ulverston.
Assuming you are coming in from Kendal direction you go through main roundabout in Ulverston heading towards Barrow and take first left after the 1st set of lights and it is part of the petrol station.
Wraithrider, they balanced my 1200 wheels when I fitted BT20s

Thanks for the directions I kind of know where it is.
thanks westmorland (and number 6)

Yep I hear that Road Pilots are the tyres to go for if you ride on the road.

Even better than 020's supposedly.

For me the 1200 is a cracking road bike, the only time I go offroad is when I'm persueded to by people on this or the other site :D

My Tourances have been great and the rear is now pretty much gone at 9,500 miles. A bit strange but the front isn't that far behind. So much for two fronts to one rear!

So thanks for the info and I'll contact the Ulverston crew, especially as I work there one day a week.

Devonshire Services are on:

01229 586241

They're checking availability for the Pilot Roads as we speak and I'll update re price and possibility of a discount later.

Peter

Ouch!

I always knew Michelin's were expensive.

£217 fitted to loose wheels (120 rear, 97 front).

No discount, no way.

I wonder how Vale manages to pay for all the one's he gets through :D

Anyway, ordered to be fitted next Tuesday.

Peter

Ouch indeed!

Maybe its me but technology gets better and better but tyres only ever seem to last about 6K miles. :(

How about tyres that are really hard and last 20 odd thousand miles like the wifes car
Hmmm maybe not
