Tyres ....just thought I'd say

What a revelation I have never noticed such a change in a bike.
Much quicker to turn in feels like the bike has lost 25 kilos.

Yep , Similar thoughts here ...

My experiences match 100% those posted by Davie Devs above ....

I now have the new Metzeler Roadtec 01 ,trusted , fun and blistering wet/dry grip. However, it looks like they wont even make 4000 miles.

Next purchase will certainly be Continental, either Road attack 3 or their sister tyre the Trail Attack.....

That's a bit strange? Is the rear squaring off?

Having ripped through a lot of tyres, I tend to listen to advice here, and friends experiences rather than the "magazine " tests.

I fear journalists are easily swayed by a posh hotel, freebies and other "inducements/gifts".
If you threw enough marketing budget at it any tyre could win a magazine "group test"

I do think the new tyres ( Dunlop road smart , Continental road-attack 3 Metzeler Roadtec 01 etc etc give much better grip than the Older designs such as the Scorpion and Tourance) Sadly it seems in the case of the Metzeler Roadtec 01 ( not just me, see other posts here ) have a bloody short life!

PS (Teapot one (see you tube) mentioned this very short life ...and he was enjoying a free pair given to him by the manufacturer... you have to respect his candid straightforward honesty heh?)

I had found that metzelers give short life. Road Smart 3's are good, just gonna try the Contis Road Attack 3's as very cheap and seem to have a good write up in general, plus over peoples views.
I have had a few hrs of PR 4's very good tyre, but do not last as long as they were supposed to compared to PR3's, and I find now Road smart etc, have raised their game, for the little lost over
PR4's in the wet, gains are far more in dry, and ride turn in etc.

I put Roadsmart 3s on my GS before heading to Austria and they have been fantastic - wet, dry, fast motorways and some spirited mountain twisties. About 4200 miles so far and roughly half worn (a little less on rear) with no significant squaring off. The carcass would seem to a bit stiffer than the Roadtec 01 - perhaps the lack of a heavyweight version of the Metzeler is why they wear out rapidly? TeapotOne also raved about the Dunlops, and I'll definitely be fitting another set when these are worn

Right then I'm on Contis for the first time ever I think on a bike

Cost me 329 euros all in

The bastard (new manager) lit me up a bit for the fitting but at least it was done properly, without scratching the rims, and both wheels balanced by hand

Rode home in the rain on new tires, oh joy

Just had a set of Roadsmart III fitted today. Looking forward to using them in Spain/Portugal in a couple of weeks time.

100% agree with you .
I think that's a great summary for the GS tyre thread

@chunkstar http://www.bikespeeduk.com I phoned them and gave correct sizes, as deal for GS sizes not listed as special offer, price was £205 for pair delivered, and a free tank bag offer. As I said earlier never used them before but were recommended to me, so waiting.

For price comparison - Pirelli Scorpion Trail2 at £241 fitted (ride in/out) from FWR. Great service as usual.

I'm pretty confident you won't be disappointed - but let us all know how you rate them.
