Hi all, I know tyres are personnel but any body tried Pirelli Scorpion 11. Cheers all.

Scorpion 2 ( i assume they have not reached 11 yet) were standard fit on my Multi and they were OK

I changed them when they were worn out for pure road tyres

The Scorpion 2 is a great tyre with loads of grip and feed back, it is excelent in the wet as well. You will need to be riding very hard in 30deg+ to get to it's limits, even then you get all the feed back to let you know what's going on.

Was standard fitment on the KTM 1290 SAS's - good tyre in all conditions although front tends to wear out quicker than the back. Have a set in the garage ready to spoon onto my latest KTM when it wears out the Mitas tyres it came with.

I have run 3 sets on my GS and friends have had them on KTMs and MTS no one has worn the fronts first we get the usual two rears to a front.

had them on my ktm 1290sas , and they were fine,,, friend had them on his multistrada too, they were very diffrent compounds to each other, the multistrada ones being softer,,
and as paul s found i wore the front quicker than the rear , next up conti road attacks,:thumb2:thumb2

Had them on my Crosstourer, no complaints,I found them pretty good.

Similar positive experiences from me on PSTA2.

Great lively feel from them that encourages you to play offering all the grip I'd ever want. Never budged an inch. Have a new set on a spare pair of alloy wheels ready to go on when I'm in the mood.

I'm currently on my 2nd pair of Conti Trail Attack 3's and these also a very good good tyres in all conditions that encourages big smiles. Not quite as much feel as the PSTA2's but nonetheless still right up as a superb tyre on the GS.

The PSTA2 was standard fitment on my 1290 SAS which got me hooked on them and positive comments here on the TA3's got me into those (first Conti experience) and TBH I'd be happy with either tyre if I was told only 1 of them was ever available again.

Pick either. You have nothing to lube but your chains :D

Exactly the same a Eunch, I’d be happy with either, both are excellent tyres, I have had them both but for me the TA3’s just edges it by a gnats willy.

Rocked...it appears you prefer the feel from CTA3 over the PST2... just, how do these two tyres compare regarding mileage and noise from the front please

I didn't have a LC.... I had a Hexhead but on that bike the front Pirelli Scorpion Trail II would wear out on par with the rear (if not a little quicker)
I'd say it's the Telelever front suspension on the Beemers that's responsible.........I suppose it depends on how hard you ride.

S20 5G sent this......

Worked well on my Tiger Explorer. Now showing funny wear pattern on the front and need replacing at 6k.

Hi Micko123, I had the PST2's and thought that they were brilliant, up to then the best tyre by a long way that I've tried. But I kept hearing how good the new CTA3's were, so I thought that I'd give them a try, and for me they just edge it over the PST2's. I ride 90% of the time in the mountains of Southern Spain and it's always in the dry, the noise level is about the same as far as I can tell, I always wear plugs and the bike has decat headers. Wear wise, I can only speak for the PST's and all was good, but because of the covid restrictions , vets visits, hospital visits etc, Iv only done about 1000 miles on the CTA's, but they still look new.

Thanks for the quick reply, CTA3 will be my next tyres then, Stick... (our resident tyre expert) and many other far better riders than me seem to be thoroughly impressed, so if it's good enough for them it's more than good enough for an old duffer like me, thanks once again.

The TA3 will be a great choice as the set are perfectly suited to the Gs . I have just bought the V4s so it came fitted with scorpions and to be fair they are a great set ( (so far ) but only done 300 miles so far , they do seem to have the same characteristics as the CTA 3 , warm up well , you can still ride in the wet without fear , but bike not run in yet so need to see . Only thing I have noticed is the front seems a more rounded profile but so far feels good . Once run in I will be able to discover the pros and cons .
This may be the first set of oem tyres that will be used not removed 👍👍

Can you donate 1250 to me. :beerjug:

Like stick said there is really not much difference between the PST2 and CTA3...Both very good tires with the Conti giving more life , especially the front !
Stick why did you defect to the VW-V4 from Bologna ? I mean 30 hp more is good but not as good to give up on T-L and shaft...IMHO !
Like to hear what you have to say about both bikes in comparison even if I would never buy anything with chain and fork again...:D
Good luck with your new (b)ride !

On my latest 2018 GSA just changed my OEM Bx A41s to CTAs.
The rear lasted 5000 miles best I have ever had out a back tyre but the drone off the front was just a pain.
On previous GSs always used CRAs and was pleased with them but decided to give the CTAs a go based on +ve comments here and elsewhere.
So today after fitment, 50 miles on the CTAs and no undue noise from the front.
Sun is up this week, so off out this Thursday to do c350 miles around Glencoe way to break them in.

Boxer , decided it was time for a change as the situation dictated . Try one they are good , not as roomy as the Gs , or even as smooth but the trade off is worth it. I miss the Gs and may go back at some point but there are roads I have ridden abroad to which I would like to revisit on this little monster.
To add out of the box this bike delivers on both performance and handling ( I must admit forks were the off putting thought but the front end of the V4 is brilliant) and all the mods I did to the Bm were great and worked , but the V4 is that good you need not add.
