The tyre of choice on the Panzer has been the original Metzeler Tourances and are due to be replaced in the near future.

Having found this tyre to be a great all rounder I am reluctant to fit the current Tourances which are now manufactured in China, and would appear by all accounts be of a lesser quality

Most of the riding will be road use with the odd gravel track and lane, so no real off road stuff.

What do you recommend I should replace them with ?

Anakee 3

Disliked the Tourances that I had, the handling seemed to go off for me with a lot of tread left. The Continental Trail Attacks were good for about 5000 miles before starting a shimmy between 30 and 40 mph. The Anakee 3 have been as good as the Tourances and the TAs first were.

Pirelli super corsa

Last about 500 miles then we can have another tyre thread

I've had Continental Trail Attack 2's for the last 10,000 miles, very impressed, the front in particular is nicer that the Tourances, no wobble when worn. Having said that, back on Trances (Chinese ones) as got them for a bargain price from a friend. I was wary of them initially, but having scrubbed in over 300 miles, can't feel any differences from the German ones, time will tell.

Whatever you go for I recommend round and black tyres :aidan

Still putting on Tourances (about £130 for a pair from Tyre Leader) - about 8th pair but still seem fine to me.

Trail Attacks for me. My 850 had tourances when I bought it, I tried Avon Distanzias which were OK, but went for the Attacks after so many good revues on here.
Having had too many faulty Avons in recent years I'm done with them, and will not be trying the new version. Their quality control stinks....
The Michelin 3's are the only other tyre I'd possibly try, but the attacks are so good I doubt it.
Oponeo usually cheapest, but check tyreleader too.

I use Chinese made tourances. To me they are just as good as those originally made in Germany.

After all Metzeler is stamped on them and I can only assume that Metzeler set the quality standard for these tyres.

I have Anakee 2 on one 1100, and Metzler Tourance on the other, and theres not much between them in my opinion, maybe the tourance are a tad better in the wet, but hard to quantify.
Both great tyres even two up and loaded.

Using michelin pr4 trail now after 60k on original tourance. They are brilliant.:D

Impressed with the TKC70 on the rear, plenty road contact and can handle the gravel fine. Run a heidenau k60 on front just for the sake of versatility.

Another vote for the PR4 trails. Almost a year on them and I'll be replacing them with the same .

I like the look of the 'dual sport', but the PR4s have been confidence inspiring on all road conditions

mitas E09, handle well last well, £106 a pair cant go wrong
