What's on the front?
It's not written in stone but I'd be looking to match the front one unless you have a good reason not to. Now if the front is nearly worn you might pick up a deal on a pair. For what I'd be using the bike for myself (commuting)60 mile round trip every day I'd go for the pr3 but if there was a deal on something else.... You never know. Jjh

I would go for Anakee 2's. Some good deals online for a pair and I got 9,500 miles out of my last pair!! Now on chinese Tourances - will see how many miles I get from these???

Torrance Nexts were good, although prefer the Anakee 3, just very noisy as you're aware. PR4 are receiving good reviews, but purely road based I believe.

I've recently had the Annakee 3's on my GSA replaced (as they gave a quite a few moments on overbanding) with PR4's and so far after 400 miles I am in all honesty not sure about them .
I may have to play about with tyre pressures as they make the bike seem even harsher on poor road surfaces ( ie all the roads around here ) ................ or is it down to yet another ecu update when it was serviced

I have a set of Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2 ordered, should have them on the bike next weekend.

I had them on a multistrada, the front went first at 2300 miles? went to pr4 but its a different bike and tyre sizes , they gripped well but didn't last on the duke, i did ride in really wet weather no issues,

need a new rear for GS1200 LC (2014)
My rear is almost illegal at 6,800 miles.
I don't do off road. I do ride all year round so wet weather grip and longevity are important to me.
I have Conti Trail Attack 2 on the front which is 70% worn. I guess I should probably replace that too.
I had Mich Pilot Road 3s on my previous bike (Multistrada) and was pleased with them.
Recommendations please.
And if you know what you paid even better.

PR4 will reputedly give best grip (wet or dry), but are expensive and won't last as long as any of the OEM tires.
I've tried all three OEMs and prefer the Tourance Next for combo of grip/handling/feel/longevity, followed by Contis and then the Anakee3. Bonus is the Tourance is by far the cheapest to buy.
FWIW, if you install your own tires, the PR4 is easier to mount with hand tools than the OEMs, which all have pretty stiff carcasses.
PR4 gets my vote. I'm on my 2nd set - the current set is on about 5750 miles with probably another 1000 or so on the rear; of that 5750 approximately 5500 were done 2-up fully loaded in high temperatures. The last set still had plenty of life after 4000 miles but I got an unfixable puncture in the rear and also replaced the front as I needed to be certain it would last the 5500 mile trip. I paid about £230 (in May), and got £40 cashback through a Michelin offer.
