I don’t mind camping …….

but when I can get a decent twin room for 50 60 70 quid, 25 30 35 each,……

……it works out that I’m basically paying an extra 10 20 quid for a dry warm bed, and a shower; where I don’t have to trek through 8 litres of piss to get to.

Plus I don’t have to pack away a wet tent, fart sack etc etc .

Plus don’t have to carry 8 gazillion kg of camping kit…..

Be great to have you though seriously 👍🏽

Plus this time I’m looking to go an a wholly inappropriate bike like my Indian FTR, I’m down to 2 pairs of y fronts loading capacity already…..

I could always jump into your hotel room and throw a bucket of cold water over you and wee on your bathroom floor in the morning to recreate the camping vibe 👍🏽👍🏽😂

Ahh, I was only suggesting it so you could get the reaction from Rod :)

Von Stolberg, a man who on one trip…….

rides to Romania via 11 countries on A and B roads….with a bit of gravel thrown in,

goes through Transylvanian mountains in torrential rain and sleet,

does loads of passes en route,

rides the TFG and Trans Alpina on same day in a spirited fashion,……..

rides the joch pass 4 times in 2 hours scraping his pegs…….

And then crashes whilst WALKING and ends up falling into Lake Balaton.

Oh and crashes into me at a stand still in Timosuara skittling my left pannier down the high street in rush hour, then insists we service my rear diff in the hotel car park and sling the oil down the shower.

Hi

Just an update.

We are at 4 now, 2 of whom have never ridden in Europe so that’ll be great for them, and indeed us too.

I’m awaiting the confirmation of a few people.

I’ve adjusted some of the routing slightly to shave a few miles off, it’s a holiday after all, not a willy waving contest 👍

I think 6 is max manageable, so anyone else interested please give me a shout.

Had a bit of a chat on the trip group I’ve formed on what’s app, a couple of points from there…..

If you’re new, don’t sweat the kit thing.

We will split kit carried between us, such as spanner’s, puncture kit, compressors, oil etc etc.

As a group we will be able to cover the basics such as, chain adjustment, oil top ups, punctures etc etc.

Medically, clearly you’ll need insurance, but on site we have me and my field dressings, and possibly a very highly qualified paramedic too.

All you need to bring is an adventurous spirit, a credit card, and some clean pants. 👍🏽

It’s mainland Europe so the answer to all dramas is always one of 2 possibilities ;

1. Credit Card

2. Decathlon

Possibly combined

Oh and don’t sweat the bike thing too much, I’d say you’d be fine on anything from say a 400cc Triumph to a K1600GT.

I’ll most likely be on this, so I’ll have an arse like a Japanese flag after day 2 ……🇯🇵

Let’s hope you and the paramedic, don’t run into each other, leaving the other two to sort you out :D :beerjug:

Thinking about that, it would be quite nice to see Von Stolberg dressed as a nurse running around sorting us out.
