Thinking about that, it would be quite nice to see Von Stolberg dressed as a nurse running around sorting us out.

Wait, nobody mentioned nurse uniforms....oh well, if that's what I need to do. Bring barf bags...

I'll try and join the WA group - been out of sorts the past couple weeks with man flu so comms have been limited.

RT.

Get yourself well, I think you have my no.

Chat any time.👍🏽

A lookee forward to the early part of he trip……

There will be an exam on Operation Chatise on day 2.

Pass mark a reasonable 90%

No resits, failures will be ‘Home Runned” 😁

Funnily enough, watched The Dam Busters yesterday - it's on the BBC for a limited time. Still a good film even if the 'special effects' aren't the best.

Top 2 are 617, denoted by the tail markings.

We shall hit all 3 Dams and indeed have a look at them from the “attack headings”

I’ve flown them in a super modern aircraft and it’s difficult, how these guys did it without radar altimeters, lasers etc etc I don’t know.

Oh and with lots of pissed of Germans, who you’ve just woke up, shooting at you.

Biggest challenge we shall face……..currywurst in Soest or Winterberg ??

It looks like a very good trip, for sure.

Unfortunately, I have enough to do in Germany next year, without adding to it.

Great that you are taking some ‘New to riding abroad’ bods along. I did the same on some of my Wanders. Many of them went on to organising jaunts of their own and doing all sorts of other ‘stuff’, which is great.

Just found this thread, looks a great trip. I'm a relative newbie to these jaunts and been hoping to find one like this for a while.
I think you've probably got the numbers so if i could go on a reserve list (if theres any drip outs) it would be appreciated.

Cheers

Hiya

We’re at 5 now so be “slot” is open.

I’ve just spoken to Bon Stolberg on phone for a hour sorting some stuff out re this trip.

Pm me your number mate and we can catch up on phone to make sure it’s for you.

If so, you’d be v welcome

Going on group trips is great. We do one every year, have done for 25 years now. It varies slightly each year. The 2026 trip is just to Ireland and there’s 12 of us this time. A few of us share the jobs between us. I do the routes, another the accommodation and another any ferries. It seems to work for us. No long days this time, the longest being around 250 miles from Yorkshire to the Fishguard ferry. It was a choice between Ireland and Germany for 2026. Ireland was the favourite. Maybe Germany in 2027?
This year was the far North of Scotland and the weather was fantastic. I very much doubt we’ll get weather like that going through Wales though. We’ve done 3 wales trips and it’s rained every time. Wales no longer even gets mentioned when asking for suggestions.
I hope you have as much fun and good weather as we had this time.

Thanks Glenn.

Yes weather plays a big part.

Thankfully GoreTex and flexibility can overcome it usually

I just coughed up some cold sick…….

So we are at 6 now.

That’s it full as it were.

If anyone else is interested give me a shout, as, despite best intentions, plans can change as life gets in the way.

I’ve booked hotels in…..

Calais 1 nt

Soest 2 nt

Mystery Stop 1 nt

Mystery Stop 1 nt

Salzburg 2 nt.

Bonus Events;

1. Soest, me boring you about ‘attack headings’ ‘IPs’, etc for the dams

2. Mystery Stop 1, me boring you even more about some WW2 stuff.

3. Salzburg, me……..yes boring you about Where Eagles Dare.

4. Me wondering where everyone is after 4 days………….

The rest we can cuff as we go, see how the weather plays out etc.

It’ll be, very generally, West to Fussen then Swiss passes, Black Forrest, NW towards home.

I’ll engineer it, as best I can, that we do the Swiss passes in good weather.

As it stands……

Guru Gora

Guru Gora DGR pal David

Guru Gora DGR pal Ian

Thanks for the interest and feedback thus far.

Merry Xmas to you all 👍🏽
