UK T-Shirt Design

The design veers towards tacky, fairground, monster truck, spotty, fantasy comic reading, geeky, air brushed tat.

Too loud and too proud.

But that's just my opinion.

Like Trippy's example of the Triumph tee shirt, simply put "GS" in the proper BMW font on a tee shirt and you'd sell loads.

Unfortunately the design resembles a beer label and is much too fussy. If it was a sticker, people would have a job reading some of the lettering. Why the blue oval around the bike? Just the bike superimposed over the flag would do. And as for the English, Scottish, Welsh, Irish flags rather than the Union Flag, well some of us are quite proud of our nationality and don't choose to be 'lumped in' with the others. It's an idiosynchratic thing most Americans haven't picked up on. 'Let's ride' is not really something British riders say, any more than 'Cool dude' , 'Let's slam back a Bud' or a whole host of Merrycan sayings. No offense intended, friend.

Have a look at this attachment. It's nice, simple and above all stylish. :)

Airheads.... - oh, you didnt anyhow. .... :augie

dont mind me - i'm only messing. ;)

it dont matter what you come up with - someone will find fault with it :blast

Good Luck though :thumb2

'Lets Ride' apart from being a little:ymca is in my humble opinion in the wrong font, a script style rarely looks good on a arc and to some extent becomes very hard to read, and with that style the lower case e's look like a's

Yeah, I'd go for that.

Simpler sounds better alright WALDIN's avatar looks about right from a detail/font point of view..

I Understand

Well, first let me say, I don't take offense. What I find difficult to understand is the simplicity of those T-shirts that you have posted.

This whole hobby/business thing started 3 years ago, based on one major factor, and that was I wanted a T-Shirt that had my motorcycle on it, not my exact bike, but my model, color would even be better. REASON, because when I walked into a dealership or Motorcycle accessory shop all I could find was the example's of T-Shirt's that you have posted, Honda's Logo, BMW's Logo, that were in my opinion extremely boring and ultra conservative,
Plus, I'm proud of my bike, nothing wrong with that. If I were to create ultra conservative shirts like some of you are proposing, then how would I establish my individual style. You could'nt. Why would anyone want to by a T-shirt from me vs going to a dealer or motorcycle shop and getting the same thing. This has really been interesting seeing the cultural differences from a number of points of view. Example, In America, we are the marketing kings, and patriotism runs high here. (Please lets not shoot any holes here, this is just open disscusion) So, we are always looking for new ways to make things better, different, and to set a new market, or establish a new trend. Of course we have a cool factor, anti-establisment types, and ultra conservitives.
What I THINK I have come to understand here is that ONE, you are not that united, TWO, maybe you would rather purchase an Ultra conservative T from a some what like minded motorcycle enthusiast, rather than the establishment. I could be wrong. It's difficult to measure I know.

SO where do I stand? I'm going to put this design project on hold here and do some thinking. It's challenging, and I do appreciate that.

I'm still interested in hearing what you have to say.

Thanks,

southerndude,

well worded reply :thumb2.

fwiw,
i could add a lot about the general mindset of the Average Tosser online here - but i wont. :augie
for a start - there IS NO "average". :D

me;
i like looking at "T shirt hell" type t shirts / but cant / wont buy online.
too much messing about and cost.
i can go up the road from my job to a print shop and get a witty / pithy / smartarse bit of text stuck on for a tenner.

graphics - seems a minefield as so much work and so many fickle / awkward / different opinions / tastes. :blast

i (in my naive youth :mmmm) planned on doing Exactly what you are doing. :thumb2

never got it together - spent too much time, money and effort getting laid and wasted... well, attempting to anyhow.

thats it - my little 2 cents.
Good Luck to Ya!

Should you go to print I'll have a 1150GSA one with the Scotland option but delete the "let's ride loggo"

If the shirts are the same quality as before, with the large logo on the back and the small logo on the front and sleave, stick me down for two. :thumb2

PS. I do think the Lets Ride sounds a bit naff. "We're Tossers" might not sell so well either.
Seriously, it looks good but needs a different phrase. :thumb2

If you did a shirt with a generic GS image on a tri-colour with something like IRISH where Lets is written
and GS'er where ride is, that looked something like what you've shown, I'd be interested in a few.

Me too. :nod

t-shirt design... it's easy... half an hour in photoshop:augie
