UKGSer’s Wobble Box Weekender - October 2026

I'm in ..... anywhere, anytime, I'll work it in to my busy schedule :thumby:

Expensive sites? C'mon guys, for two or three nights is it going to be a game changer :blast

:beerjug:

To set the ball rolling, how about:

This is just lobbed out as an idea, as Derbyshire is reasonably central.

I’ll admit it’s probably at the higher end, price wise, but we have to start somewhere.
Chatsworth is Duck City! Take some duck feed and a few oranges…

And if everyone (or the majority) is up north?

I’m in London, it might be just as easy to go to northern France :D

:beerjug:
Northern France would be my preference :D, however, October may just fit in with a vague plan we have to visit some family who have a croft very close to the northern most point of the dreaded NC500. Apparently the best time to visit is mid/late September to avoid the midges.

I would up for this

What about Clumber park ?

Might be a bit too north but its quite good and in some lovely Forrests etc

I’ve stopped there in the past.
There’s absolutely zero phone / internet signal and there’s been a LOT of thefts of push bikes and anything else not secured overnight. They have warnings posted everywhere about that.

Suggestion two:

Which is near Peterborough, so still reasonably central and a big site.

I've used Ferry Meadows a few times to visit my daughter in my T5 and my caravan, they have a substantial "Rally Field" that can be rented by groups or bookings can be made for site pitches on both hardstanding or grass although fully serviced pitch numbers are limited, bookable to non-members as well as CAMC members (who obviously get a small discount for having membership). Its a huge site split into two sides with the Ferry Meadows park access road running down the middle.

IIRC the rally field has no services so its off-grid camping. They have an area for tents too if anyone is travelling by motorcycle.

The Blind Tiger Taproom is a short walk from the camp site, and a slightly longer stagger back.

Just off the A1 so easily accessible from all directions.

This is just up the road from Chatsworth, really good site, its a short walk into Castleton, loads to see and do in the Town (Devils Arse, Wynatts Pass, about 2000 pubs etc) and it gets a half decent bus service.

Its a popular site so would need to be booked early though. there are also lots of cheaper/free options to park up close by.

Yeah, that’s a nice site. Been there a couple of times. Went up Mam Tor on my peddly bike. :thumb2

Bit nearer home...

Erm, no!
It would cost me over £100 in congestion / low emission / ultra low emission charges or whatever it is. Sod that.

Just checked…… £235! Yeah, righty ho!

are bikes allowed? Will there be a communal area?

If I could refer the honorable gentleman to posts #15 and #20

If would appear that all variation requests must be submitted to the committee for consideration and final ruling (although no timeframe has been specified)

Me and you could end up banished to a nearby field Don, but at least we wouldn't need to worry about terminology such as Hook-up, Self-levelling or Grey Water disposal etc. etc. ;):D

Dent or Kettlewell both good options
I shan't go to Dent .... and the Kettlewell site is a cracker but cant take caravans because they can't get in to the site. I think Udders might have a problem with his unit?
