Albeit having spent close to £1,800 on parts but, %60 of it labour trying to sort my 02 1150 GSA problems out by renewing & swopping bits.
It is still not running right albeit better.
High revs and speed feels good, only when riding slow it will stutter a bit and give the occasional singular backfire. You can smell that fuel smell from exhaust and plugs sooting again.
Again the problem of poor starting which every time re-sets the time on the RID even though a new battery.

I want to check the earth connections which have been mentioned before on threads here.
Where exactly is the join in the headstock wiring. Steptoe had mentioned the outer sleeve needs to be cut back to check and clean?

Maybe a weak spark!

Need to get the fuel level down before taking tank of again.

Throttle body shafts possibly? :nenau
When I had Mikeyboy do a refurb on my bike he had to replace both the throttle body shafts and seals due to wear. My bike had only done 35,000 miles. I may be talking bollocks but maybe ping him a pm and ask if it could be them?

Follow the wiring loom from under the tank and up around the headstock to the sub assembly above the beak. It's often zip tied to the headstock on the way up. That's where a bit of careful autopsy may be required. Start by cutting the zip ties and switching the ignition on. Then move the harness to see if there's any flickering of the "idiot" lights on the dash.

Don’t waste your time. The earths mentioned has nothing to do with the running of the engine. It’s a purely separate plug in instrument loom with earths for the instrument display.

I reckon you should tell the guy that’s taken £1800 off you to sort it……

As at the moment it’s looking like he’s had you over….

Is it same chap West Coast GSer used for his clutch and gearbox fiasco ?

It's Mixture so it's quite possibly

TPS throttle position sensor Set wrong or ballixed will screw up the ratios

Lambda sensor bad heater circuit and mixtures screwed I have said to you to unplug this and see how it runs a couple of times now If it is out of circuit the ECU defaults to a basic fueling map slightly richer than normal but very likely less than you have at present and it costs nothing!

Injector spray pattern ?

Fuel rail pressure if a connector is not seated correctly then fuel can't get back to the tank and it fuels at full pump pressure

Does the temp guage show 5 bars after a good run? If not the engine temp or Intake air temp will influence mixture

Time to Diagnose and stop chasing rainbows

Think I’d be getting it to Steppers to sort it. :thumb2 At least get it diagnosed properly. That way it would be done by an expert rather than someone less qualified / experienced. You’ll save money in the long run. :thumb2

Dont think so as rugged path lives down south...seems to be a lot of folk getting ripped off lately by so called specialists...
I take umbrage to being called a southerner West Coast.

First off will disconnect the O2 sensor or a few runs then check plug condition.
Thanks for the comments all.

Well you are a lot south from Ayr! :D
There must be someone trustworthy and knowledgeable in GS’s up around the Cheshire area shirley? If not, Mikeyboy is just north of Melton Mowbray. He certainly knows his stuff. :thumb2

I thought similarly, but the two bikes I’ve seen with butterfly shaft wear all made a tappety ticking sound which could be stopped by pressing sideways on the butterfly assembly.

I did change the bushings in the TB's to stop the ticking. The shafts looked OK to re-use.
At least for now the bike is usable but will do some more winter fettling.
