I've now fitted the Bridgestone BT020 tyres to the bike, what a transformation!
I pushed the bike out of the workshop after re-fitting the wheels and it felt as if there was less rolling resistance. I put this down to,perhaps, having had a sticking caliper which had freed off when pushing the caliper pistons in to aid caliper removal.
On the road, the difference was apparent, the bike feels eager to fall into corners, the heaviness in the steering has disappeared.Perhaps the worn-out Contis were a bit low on pressure, but any pressure loss would be impossible as they were running with Ultraseal, read the blurb.
I haven't bothered with the magic lube this time,a can of Finilec or similar will be carried.
On the underslung silencer modification, has anyone else completed the conversion,or is anyone in the throes of doing it?
I've tested the bike a bit more now,the most interesting thing is that, when accelerating,I keep going for an extra gear when in 5th.
Also, with the original set-up,the engine fell into a 'hole' at about 110kmh,before clearing at about 130kmh,this has now disappeared and the roll-on acceleration is linear throughout.
Next question is:It's still raining, what shall I fiddle with next?
