potential job should allow me to get the bike back on the road and waste much too much money on bits - of which first up is y piece etc. i have seen somewhere on the web an exhaust system that sits entirely underneath the engine, looked very neat. Anyone know any details?

There's a bloke in Holland does them:

EVA Motors

Here's a link to some of the exhausts he makes:

http://www.evamotor.nl/Equipement/Exhaust/exhaust1.htm

Here's a pic of a 1200 with the exhaust (he also does exhausts for 1150s):

Just found the prices:

1150 GS:

"DEEP" exhaust special for race and street use. A more deep sound with better gasflow. (TÜV/CE in 2005)
Cost : 425,00 euro
Material : Stainless steel "Inox" 1 - 2mm

1200 GS:

"DEEP" exhaust special for race and street use. A more deep sound with better gasflow. (TÜV/CE in 2005)
Cost : Total unit 750,00 euro
Material : Stainless steel "Inox" 1 - 2mm

No idea why the 1200 exhaust is so much more expensive than the 1150.

i'm sure the more stridently opinionated members would have observations as to the sense of 1200 owners.

know anyone with one? will i be entering a world of confusing and dispiriting conversations re lambda sensors, fuel mixture, backfire etc?

dank u

There are a couple of people on the Dutch GS forum who have them.

Try registering here:

You can post a question straight away in English, but make sure you introduce yourself, they get all uppity if you don't.

You can also send an e-mail to Erik Vegt at EVA motors. He is a very helpful chap.

Cheers,

bike was from

i saw something very similar on a new guzzi le mans recently, probably made by the same ppl. looked & sounded great.

bike belonged to Corsa Italiana, maybe they can supply you with some info?

Have a look at www.wuedo.de they have a very tidy looking example. Unfortunately the text is in German. I bunged it in a translator and it seemed to suggest they were almost ready to release it.

An e-mail I sent them:

Dear sir,

thank you very much for your inquiry and your interest in our accessories.
The sidepipe exhaust will replace the standard pre-silencer and the
muffler. This exhaust will have the catalytic converter, of course, and
will be delivered with en European ABE, so that you can use it without any
problems. The exhaust will be ready soon, so that we can calculate it. Ass
son as it will be ready you will find all informations on our news side for
the R 1150 GS or in our next newsletter.

With best regards

That looks even better. Despite being half German my language skills are weak - will rope in the family to get details when it looks imminent.

They have it marked up at €749 now, looks the biz

The underslung silencer looks interesting, the decision is now whether to go for the usual Remus and let the single pipe under the gearbox area give more of an impression of less bulk,or,to fit the underslung conversion and expose the back wheel.
However.....after comparing the photos of the silencer to the standard system,it looks very much like the underslung is 'just' a cut-down standard silencer, even the mounts are the same.
I've modified the outlet of my standard system to enable it to breathe a bit more freely, hence it's probably not sell-able,so..... €425 or do I cut it up and modify it,then get a stainless sheet with 2 outlets welded on?
I know I'm just going to have to cut it up and have a look inside, but before I do,has anyone else looked inside the primary silencer?
This could end up being a very cost effective modification,or a spell in hospital if SWMBO finds out I've buggered it up!

I've been told the 1200GS exhaust comes complete with new header-pipes. This may explain the price difference.
