I've noticed the inside pads seem to wear a bit quicker than the outside ones - do people swap them over to balance out the wear or is this frowned upon?

Front and back - '07 non servo ABS , if that's at all relevant

There can be a few reasons for this but what i find the main reason is a slight stiffness in the pistons on one side, i also notice aftermarket pads ie EBC etc wear uneven alot more than the standard BMW's

Bit of WD40 and push pistons in and out, be careful not to push them out too much so they fall out of there housing

I've just been cleaning the pistons, pads etc in a possibily futile hope the low speed juddering isn't a warped disk, as I could do without spending the money on a new set of front disks.

I used a toothbrush and dilute car shampoo to clean the brakes, then a bit of red rubber grease on the pistons and finally a smear of coppaslip on the back of the pads and the pin.

But I guess the smart money's on a new set of disks :(

The problem with copper slip is hat it has steel filing in in and not copper as a lot of people think ..... after a while copper slip dries out & turns into a congealed mass.

A better option if you can get hold of it is Castrol PH grease.

From the molyslip website, makers of copaslip,

Molyslip Copaslip is an anti-seize compound consisting of finely divided copper and lead macro particles in a non-melt bentone base to which are added highly effective oxidation and corrosion inhibitors.

As the saying says and quite rightly not all copper slips are the same.... read the can to see what's in it.
