John, you are like a rat up a drainpipe in terms of your enthusiasm for this bike!

Question:
Do you have time to share/post a summary of your rides, thus far? (Or have I perhaps missed that posting?).

Certainly, your enthusiasm speaks volumes for the model...

I’ve only done around 500 miles on the bike so far . This has mainly been on B roads but with some short A road and motorway sections . I’ve also done some riding on unpaved roads . So far I have no complaints whatsoever , it runs well even on the enduro tyres on the road and the ability to switch to rain mode in the wet is great . On unpaved roads the suspension and enduro mode work really well together . On the motorway it will happily sit at 70 with no adverse wind effects, the short fairing seems to work well . The build quality is very good and the quick shifter works well . The only thing I would have liked is a fuel gauge , although it’s not a big issue hitting the trip reset and refuelling after say 150 miles . All in all I’ve taken to this bike more than any other newer model BMW I’ve had and for me it’s the ideal bike .

Ok thanks
I’m ordering a white 12gs here in Spain and you can configure from factory with the enduro nose fairing

Yes , I found a bike that had already been built with just about everything I wanted so I went for that rather than wait for a specific build and just ordered the fairing as a parts order

Hi John love the look of your bike . I test rode one today and loved it . There is no luggage yet but neither is there any for my 1300 GSA ! I am considering getting one , Any drawbacks you can think of ? I am looking at px my 1300 so it will be used as that is . Do you think it will be a realist bike to tour Europe on ? Cheers

John, thanks for taking the time to write-up that initial feedback from your experience over the first 500 (varied) miles.

I think that your comments are encouraging others who are curious about the model - and who have been perhaps hesitant to dip their toe into the water after previous disappointment.

Safe riding.

I’ll tell you better after I’ve done a two week tour of Europe in August ;-)

I think it will be fine . I’ve ordered a unit garage rear rack and I’m intending using some Mosko Moto Rackless bags . BMW offer OEM soft luggage and racks but I’m not sure I like the look of them and they are only 10l capacity I believe , it’s the same system they used on the G310GS

How does the R12 compare to your GSA ? Guess it’s chalk and cheese.

Thanks Paul , when I ordered my rear rack the frames were not available , I’ve just ordered the frames now ;-)

I’m wondering if the tank is a real ‘big tank’ or just a shell cover with the original tank underneath. Unit Garage have done both in the past. One just for looks, the other for genuine long range.
Update, I’ve just seen their instagram post. It is a 25ltr tank
