Last night I stripped out the Autocomm and old optimate connectors on the 1100 and wired in my Garmin cradle... Whilst there I saw another live/neutral feed that goes to the headstock where it has been cut into the loom... It also has two relays..the main wire then disappears into the headlight...

I decided to leave it be, and connected it back to the battery..

Any ideas what it is... It's not Beemer wiring....

There might have been extra lights fitted previously perhaps.

May be an upgrade to the headlight wiring. If the supply to the relay is heavy duty cable direct from the battery it may bypass the bikes wiring loom ( with associated voltage drop). This will give you full battery voltage at the headlight so improving the light output. Or it could be something else entirely.:nenau

Trace the wire from the headlight to the first relay and see which tab it goes to (they are numbered). If it goes to 87 it's being used as a trigger wire for extra lights etc, if it goes to 85 it is being used to power the headlight as previously mentioned.

Have a picture ! (Ignore the application)

Thanks to all... It is a very heavy duty lead and as per Pauls diagram its powering the headlight....

Thanks all, I'll tidy up the wiring and leave well alone...

At least all the other dangly bits are gone!!!
