After a 12yr lay off, last bike R100T I am back on 2 wheels with a very clean 20,000 miles 1981 R80gs. Purchased 2 days ago. I am led 2 believe that i need to use an additive with unleaded fuel is this correct if so what? Also my bike is a metallic blue the seat was originally orange but a previous owner has painted (Upholstery paint) it black. On checking some books I can only see black seats on blue GS's and orange on white GS's is this correct? Can anyone tell me roughly what I should hav paid 4 my bike?

Welcome back to 2 wheels Andy.
The value of a bike 23 years old will be completely dependant on its condition. So don't expect anyone to give a figure without seeing it.
Expect it to have had a few changes over the years (I don't remember a blue G/S until 1983).
I had a blue one with orange seat - so someone else has taste!, although mine had been recovered. Seats and tanks are easily interchangable.
Thanks for the warm regards. I wasn't sure if I was doing the right thing but the more I ride the bike the less doubt I have. This site has also been one heck of a bonus.
