Unlock codes and registering

I've just won a 2820 I already have the 2610 .My question is this the seller when asked said

hi, yes yellow slip is with it, do you want me to unregister it?

I emailed him back saying I wasn't sure could anyone please advise as I'd like to load use it with my PC obviously and load routes etc .
