Unsed electrical connector

Hi all. First time posting so hope I'm getting this right.
I've got a 2003 1150gs adv and was hoping that someone could tell me what the unsed electrical connector is under the rear right side of the seat in the triangle of the rear frame. It is zip tied to the frame alongside the seat release cable.

If memory serves, it's for the the American market; some sort of emissions control not fitted to European models.
