My 97 1100 normally idles at 1100-1200 RPMs but after idling in traffic for a while it sometimes stumbles and stalls unless I apply throttle, this occurs at normal operating temperature the TBs are well balanced at idle and everything is apparently good, any suggestions ? :nenau

Well the first thing that springs to mind would be incorrect idle mixture - air leaks at the rubber joint between TB and head?

Or it could be the plug leads playing up as they get hot (lying against the cylinder without any air flow) if they're old.

I'd probably leave the bike idling until it started misbehaving and then pull the plugs out to check their colour - wrong colour suggests mixture problems, right colour could mean ignition.

had the same trouble and it was the plugs. I had put in double electrode plugs and the bike ran like shite. Put in some NGK single electrode ones and it ran much better.
