So went to start the bike this morning and all i can describe it as was a lumpy tickover

Normally its a nice purr from the bike and it hovers around 1100 rpm, a fast idle before settling down to the 1k mark

This morning it was on the 1K mark and sounded odd missing but not missing if that makes sense

Almost like one plug out of the four not firing ( a lower plug as opposed to the main plug ) if that makes sense

once under load and running all seemed well but the odd stutter coming of idle rpm to load throttle until warm

No issues starting it up to come home 1100k rpm , bar the odd feeling coming off idle to load (engine not fully warm)

Any ideas?

I can get some stick coils later this week , so i have that as backup and i can reset the steppers as well

Any other ideas

Has the weather got colder down your way all of a sudden ??

Only thing I would think about is is your tank drain actually draining to outside the tanks and not spilling inside?

in Which case Bung some of this in and try it for a day or so ?

Yes and no, i have noticed it being lumpy when cold

But today was about 10c and raining

This is just a thought, but when did you last look at the plugs? In my case. For some reason, the bike really seems to get through plugs. Just wondering if yours are old and heavily worn, then this might suddenly load the system and show itself at times like this (cold weather).
Sure. Coils are another obvious port of call...

Interested in the Doc's ideas though!

Can you elaborate on this. I'm really curious. But I don't think I've understood!

So will be here Weds, handy i'm going to be in the car that day ; thumb

What ratio did / do you use i think a whole bottle may be overkill lol

Plugs were replaced at the last service if i recall or the one before

But how many miles between services? I have a rough idea the plugs are only good for about 7-8k miles before the wear becomes visible - that's approx my year's commute to Italy. Hence I have that rough time span

If you lift your Filler cap you will see a dished plate in below

and a hole to the left side

That is "supposed" to drain water to the outside of the tank

Buts they made it a stupidly small pipe prone to blockage

So the water lies there and evetually overcomes the seal and enters the fuel tank

OR the unwitting rider dismounts and opens the lid and water runs in to the tank

May I present Exhibit A of a "Can you get it running for me again?"

My response at this stage was "FUCK Me what have I let myself in for!"

So this mornings startup was fine, smooth tickover at 1.1k

Slightly loud on overrun (zorst flap stuck again i guess)

So just in case 4 new coils , plugs , & an FPC ordered

Cough cough Please refer to post 2

you would haev saved a bloody fortune if you had tried that first and it was the right diagnosis

But........ Cause .......... Effect ........... Resolution

How did it get in there

We know what happens when it ties to run on it

How you going to stop it getting in there ?

Be careful you may just blow the internal hose off if you just go blowing high pressure air through it to clear it !
One of the last ones I did I soldered a length of cunifer 3/16 brake line in place of the steel spiral and gently countersunk the top at the dished groove
