Really useful vid. I was unaware of the significance of the red border, but I am aware of 50 in towns and villages after their name sign

Came across this one in patagonia earlier this year. lol!

largely replaced with Stop signs at every fucking side road ,even those where a vehicle emerges once a week
Riding / driving around Brittany and many village/town signs are upside down

Rural France turned upside-down by farmers
Road signs have been unscrewed, flipped over and screwed back on in a growing campaign.

It's a campaign by farmers to draw attention to what they say is their increasingly precarious way of life.
Starting with a protest in the southern Tarn department in November, it has now spread all over the country.
"We were trying to think of a way of denouncing all the contradictory instructions we keep getting," said Philippe Bardy, head of the FNSEA farmers' union in the Tarn.
"Where we come from, if someone tells us to do one thing one day and then the opposite the next, we say we're walking on our heads. That's where the idea came from."
Farmers cite specific grievances such as the increasing cost of farm diesel, late payment of EU subsidies, burgeoning bureaucracy and competition from imports.
But Philippe Bardy adds: "There is no other profession that suffers such a mental load.
"On one side, the minister asks us to change our practices, to make them more ecological. On the other, he tells us to produce as much as possible so France can achieve food sovereignty.
"On one side, we're being told to do everything to raise the salaries we pay. On the other, we're told to lower our prices because of inflation."

Is France gone expensive ie petrol and hotels /food ?
always has been compared to Spain, Germany, Austria & Luxembourg
we will be in Reims, Alsace, Bavaria, Austria & Mosel next month. Everywhere has had substantial inflation but at least in Germany, we will be able to get half a litre of beer for 4 euros to take away the pain of the cost of the hotels!
In our area petrol's about the same although diesel is as usual much cheaper. Regarding food there's always Aldi/Lidl and most Carrefours/Leclercs/etc have cheaper options. Bar/resto food prices are on a par in the touristy areas. I think the UK has caught up with France TBH.
Ref fuel it's quite handy to get the Mon Leclerc app (suspect others are available) as it'll tell you the up to date prices at the store you select.
Dunno about hotels.

The have/don’t have right of way signs are the same used in Italy. Literally no one knows what they mean (and not only those)
