Hi all,

I'm on the lookout for a Blackberry or similar device.
Being new to these things, any advice for other / similar / better toys of that sort is welcome.

If you have one that you want to sell, let me know.
In the UK there are these packaged deals I believe, we don't have that in Belgium.
Maybe there are cheap deals around, call me!
If it's simlock-free, usuable across the pond, it's fine for me.

Cheers,
Michel

most used ones on the market seem to be locked to a provider - i really struggled to get my old one unlocked from O2 for use on T mobile

in the end, £220 got me a brand new, sim free, blackberry pearl, use it as phone, email, browser, diary etc - fantastic - never looked back, and just slipped in my existing T mibile sim card !:clap

I have an as-new Blackberry 7100W complete with case, charger, manuals and unused headset in the original box. My company gave it to me when I retired - it was on the Dutch Vodaphone network, however I obtained the ulock code from them and it worked a treat when tested with an O2 simcard.

It's had little use as it was only taken out of the box when travelling with a laptop was impractical. PM me if interested.

There's a forum for Blackberry users......I used it and found an unlock prog that unlocked my Pearl 8100 from Vodafone the first time without any fuss, and it was free.

There are unlock progs for most Blackberry devices available free :)

Otherwise, where is the best place to buy online, without subscription/simlock?

Cheers,
Michel

I've a Nokia E61 locked to Vodafone. I set about unlocking it but it was early days and one they all struggled with.

Don't know how they fare now and in any case Blackberry won't let me use a different handset which is a shame as the Nokia is much better than my Curve.

Anyone heard of Nokia E61's being unlockable yet?

So you've got both and you like the Nokia is much better?

Can you elaborate please?

So you've got both and you like the Nokia is much better?

Blackberry Curve:

Slimmer
Lighter

Nokia:
Bigger Screen
Much better web browser
Wi-Fi
3G (means it can multi-task i.e. email + phone or web + mail at same time)
More robust (metal not plastic)
Higher capacity battery

So a bit of a bastid I can't use it with my 02 fronted Blackberry service :spitfire

The really annoying part is I don't need to unlock it for 02 as 02/Vodafone are the same type or network carrier. Its Blackberry that won't let me use the phone :spitfire :spitfire :spitfire
