I'm not particularly fussed on AI route planning or collaborative planning. But the improvements to POI handling and the information you can associate with them look interesting as do improvements to track handling.

======

With the combining of two threads into one, I have edited the thread’s title.

Folders with tracks and routes in the same place - nice. Also POI's but they didn't show it. Catching up with DMD Hub

Interesting.... from what i saw the new version with add on´s etc is available from 2nd November?

I have always found MRA a bit confusing in their naming of products.

Does anyone more in sync with thier thinking understand is MRA Routeplanner Next (coming into Beta) going to be an upgrade for existing Gold (or other coloured) subscribers? or will it be a new product they will want people with lifetime subs to re-purchase?

Looking in AI - it looks like lifetime Gold (premium all features) is about to become Lifetime not so Gold without the "Next" features.

Anyone else been wondering?

you buy nothing

£0

That's fine! The upgrade is free: MRA Routeplanner Next opens for you at the official release on 15 February 2027, with every feature you have today.

That's my understanding, but there are some add on which are chargeable - AI route planning, group ride, and some other stuff, which seems fair. And apparently you can buy early access to the Beta

Seems to be 2 threads on the same topic....might be worth merging as its both an interesting and important pic in my opinion

I didn't watch the whole 45 minute video and maybe I should but basically the extra new features will be available on a monthly subscription basis but all the new features that they plan to release as standard so the sections part as example which I did watch and found very good, will be free to those depending on their original subscription.
I must say i did find it all a bit confusing....

I think it’s only net new they becomes chargeable- AI route planning, group riding and club subscriptions were all called out as extra. I think everything else remains as is.

It seems there’s a new app to be released early November and a new route planner website in February which has some good updates,

If you watch the video, the owner / developer of MyRoute explains it all very clearly. In brief, here’s my take on the highlights from the video:

Nothing has been taken away from existing users, depending on their current subscription, including those that take advantage of the free (no cost) option. There’s some new and quite nice free ‘stuff’. This bursts the outrage bubble.

There will be some redesigning of what you see when you open the Routeplanner app.

The Routeplanner app will now fully support ‘segments’, something that was previously only available in the Open Street Maps layer. This brings it into line with an app like Kurviger.

Weather will be available, but only through the AI function. Thus will only be available through the optional add-on, for which there is a monthly subscription. Similarly, the AI backed optional add-on includes the ability to submit typed in requests within the app, such as: “Create me a 10 day holiday for me and my six mates going to the Alps. No motorways and stuff to see and do and biker friendly hotels, leaving Thursday…”

There is a redesigning of the user’s route library, with the routes now being displayed en mass, rather than individually. This has been a common asked for improvement, along with ‘collaboration’ with friends. The latter is active in real time.

The POI (point of interest) folders and the qualities of individual POI’s has been totally revamped.

Trip reports are much better created and interlinked with pictures and the like.

Individual tracking is now available for free. Share this with say, your mum, to make sure she knows you are safe.

Group rides tracking is an optional paid for monthly add on. It has a lot of features.

‘Commercial clubs’ has been revamped. This costs, but is probably not too relevant to many single users here.

‘Basic Clubs’ has been revamped, which might well be useful for social events, such as ‘Join my jaunt to the battlefields trip’.

Connection to devices, for example to connect to the MyRoute Navigation app, has been improved.

MyRoute app ‘Studio’ is new and free, with some nice features. It includes the ability to add your videos. In brief, it’s a trip report app.

In short, it’s a total revamp. You lose nothing. In the main it costs nothing for the upgrades. There are some optional add-ons, which are only available for a monthly subscription. But, if these don’t interest you, just don’t buy the optional subscription. Watch the video!

PS MyRoute’s separate Navigation app is also being revamped into MyRoute Navigation Next. News on this available at the end of the video.

Welcome.

I have always liked the way that MyRoute have always been very public in their announcements and, by and large, helpful via their forum.

Their Beta test program is much better run than BMW’s ‘Rainbirds’ or whatever it’s called.

People moan about AI, but its use, whether integrated into an app (such as MyRoute Routeplanner Next) or standalone (for example, Chat GPT) does have its values. If nothing else, it’s at least a guide for possible courses of action to take or consider.

Most useful though is that it’s user friendly and engaging. Nobody needs to be a computer geek to use it; all you have to do is type in the question and then use some imagination (and checking) when looking at the response. Sadly, it is often the imagination that is so often lacking.

It’ll be interesting to see how well or otherwise it works in the MyRoute Routeplanner Next app. The weather I can get by looking out of the window….. generally.

I think I’ll give them the fee to get into the Beta app and (hopefully) see how and if the AI bolt-on works.

I have been a lifelong member of MyRoute since it very first launched, when it cost only a few pounds. Spending some money now, is not an unreasonable exchange.

I found the weather and AI a bit strange. I don’t need AI to tell me when it’s best time to ride to avoid the weather. I have a forecast for that. I found that a bit exaggerated

Some of the kids I work with now won't wipe their arse until they've asked an AI to tell them which side of the paper to use.
