I tried the configurator but the only options offered on the TE Rallye were an alarm and off road tyres?

Yes I thought the price quoted was not too bad either for the TFT, however when you also add in the bike price increase, then if you don't have the BMW helmet and comms kit for it, you can add well over another £1500 to enable you getting the most out of that dash

exactly my point and feeling too .....as much as i like the TFT gadget i dont like the system 5.6. helmets. You can bet your life this will only work with the BMW comms system on their lid , and Sena ,inter phone etc, won't connect

Must be old fashioned as I look at the road not some LCD distraction how do you guys do it ?? or is it my 70+ year old eyesight letting me down. I kinda keep my eyes on the road perhaps I'm missing something.

I suspect that we have gone beyond the point of useful electronics on bikes now, but the manufacturers have fallen into a trap of their own making - time for a revolt against all his pointless stuff that no one needs but it's cheap for the manufacturer to add in and mark up enormously, we need a back to basics campaign that concentrates on dynamic performance and quality.

I can operate just about all of the functionality on my nav 6 with my 30 quid comms unit, so don't see why you'd be beholden to a bmw comms kit and/or bmw helmet? I doubt they would aim to be that restrictive. Sure they want to sell bmw comms kits but I doubt they would want to risk the attractiveness of the upgrade by forcing people to purchase a new comms kit? There may be some dedicated functionality involved in the remote app (which if similar to the car version, doesn't offer much).

The best thing about the screen is the all-in-one in your face speedo and rev gauges, as well as easy to navigate options such as phone list scrolling (bit of faff on the sat nav). But there's little more than what you can already do with the satnav and non-oem comms unit?

Think I'd prefer this approach over a connected helmet.

Absolutely agree! Even the electronic suspension is unnecessary in my view. Nothing wrong with turning the wheel to adjust the rear shock (and standard GSs still have the same wheel used for years). cruise control is great and the gear shift blipper is handy, but everything else (keyless ride and digi screens etc) is just 'noise'!

Speed cameras?
Like you, I want to be able to steal a glance at my dash and get my speed info without having to concentrate on that act. The new dash does appear to do that, but the older one, even the update, really doesn't. One reason why I bought the Navigator - I really don't bother with the analogue speedo which was way overdue a sort out. So, I like it for exactly the reasons you appear not to!

Took me ages to find a model that showed it!
