Updated GS/GSA for late 2017

So the Nav on the display just looks like an arrow based system. If you want maps, you have to get the Nav 6 still, I assume.

Had been thinking about it: from the reviews looks look the Suzi is going to be competition for the bmw (the Aprilia being in a slightly higher class?). I've a test ride on the s1000R lined up for a week Saturday (was going to be the RR but changed mind), though I fear it's going to be too much like the XR.

Quite smitten by the rock slate xsr900 and, with 2016 models for 6-6.5K, might go down that route in-between times.

Cor, it is nice :-)

Like it with the new colour scheme for the r1200r

That's a bit confusing. the red GSA had the new display and the blue and white Rallye version had the old display.

They had the same two bikes at Garmisch. Sales person said that retrofit not possible and the in built nav is basic compared to the nav6 and bmw think that the nav 6 sales won't be affected. IMO the rally paint job on the GSA is nowhere near as good as the blue rally version on the GS. It looks a bit half done to me. A full copy of the gs rally paint job would have been better. Tft looks realy good though.

The BMW configurator has the Exclusive at £15930 take it that now includes the tft screen, the emergency call is £295 xtra

BMW will have to think carefully how they price it if it is an option, bearing in mind the KTM has it as standard now. As they'll be losing sales of Nav VI units, they'll either increase the price of the bike and make it standard, or keep the price the same, with the option to unlock Nav on the display for, say £500. That's what KTM will be doing.

Chap at KTM Dewsbury told me satnav isnt an option on the 1290, even with the fancy TFT thing. Seemed a bit stupid if true. Well actually a lot stupid. What also seemed stupid was that their most expensive model "T" had last years clocks which I literally could not figure out the logic of?

The TFT are great to look at in the showroom, but with only one screen it will have to be pretty customisible to show what we currently get with the standard clock setup and the Nav 5. Theres only so much you can put on these screens and have them readable whilst riding, let alone off roading.

So the new speed o .Is it going to be held on with 3 circlips and just as easily nick-able as the present one ?

3 circlips would be luxury
By the looks of it there are none

I challenged Reiner Fings (the guy in the YouTube vid released day) about the lack of security and he was in total denial that it would be a problem

It's going to be an option not a std fitment and in the fatherland will cost you and extra €590
To me it looks cheap and nasty & more of a distraction

Can someone those seen one of the new bikes with tft photograph the VIN number for me?

That would be about the right price if the Exclusive has gone up about £400+

of?

That's probably true, but even after a revision they failed with the speedo on the current models! :(

I don't see how a TFT display adds much at all - the current display works very well unless you are old fart with terrible eyesight;) I'd much prefer improved cycle parts, improved overall quality and engine improvements - but I guess bunging a cheap colour LCD screen on excites the modern part time biker far more than performance, handling and quality these days.
