Updated GS/GSA for late 2017

That's probably true, but even after a revision they failed with the speedo on the current models! :(

Yeah I really couldnt understand the logic there either. It's a virtually universal opinion that the speedo needed improvement. That is definitely a top 5 niggle for the GS series in my book.

Listening to customers sells bikes.....

Do like the blue and white on the GSA Rally, rear pegs are missing though

I must be the only person alive who likes the standard display, I even prefer the old version without the blue circle, although mine is in kms

I don't see how a TFT display adds much at all - the current display works very well unless you are old fart with terrible eyesight;) I'd much prefer improved cycle parts, improved overall quality and engine improvements - but I guess bunging a cheap colour LCD screen on excites the modern part time biker far more than performance, handling and quality these days.

It adds the potential to play Pokemon Go

A completely new (not "improved") GS/A would've been a better news. Don't get me wrong, I love my TB GSA, but I think current R1200 range, is now to long in a tooth. A complete refresh, especially in the gear box department, would receive a warm welcome from many of us.

LCD display is a great addition, but I feel that BMW will be testing water with this one, which makes bike feel like a (yet another) mid life facelift.

Oi! That's me... and 87.4% of the customer base! :D

(Point taken - it isn't great though, is it?)

To be honest it has never bothered me but I use the sat-nav for a more accurate speed read out 99% of the time.

Indeed, if this is all there is for 2018, I think I will put off my decision and wait for the next big upgrade.

In my (warped) mind. The TFT panel should be cheaper than the original setup. I would imagine that it is cheaper to produce than an analogue screen with all its moving parts.

Like all cars these day the stereos and touch screen climate etc is much cheaper to install than lots of different knobs, buttons and sliders. A cheap TFT screen made in China with a teenager designing a bit of software.

I look forward to the retro version :augie

To be honest it has never bothered me but I use the sat-nav for a more accurate speed read out 99% of the time.

As do I, and the Nav readout rights my issues to be fair, but my 20 year old Honda dials are much clearer and that's a bit off a faux pas by BMW really. I do rather like the new display though.

Is the TFT available as an option on the GS too? Or is this just a GSA update for now?

"The new Connectivity option will be launched in autumn 2017 on the R 1200 GS and R 1200 GS Adventure"

I had originally thought it was going to be next year for the GS, which I was okay with. The fact that it appears that you can order with the new screen now, however, is a bit frustrating. Might explain why it was so easy to get a reasonable deal on the bike.

In fact, looks like it's already on the configurator for the te. They've added teleservices and the sos option, no tft option, so presumably its included on the te. Price increase from 15.775 to 15, 930. Interesting, I'm sure there used to be a fore aft icon on the configurator, in addition to 360o side-on - this has been removed, presumably whilst they update the configurator.

And the GSA Rallye is £17,670 on the site. Granted GSAP and keyless are included but that's still quite a hike.

As the GS is now so popular compared to 10 years ago the price they give you for part exchange is getting less, so a much bigger percentage to pay now and getting bigger. Bmw better watch out or they will price a lot of customers out of buying their bikes IMO!!

The fact that sterling has been 15% lower against the Euro for the last year hasn't helped.

Indeed not, but dealer only wanted to give me £8.5k for my 2015 TE with 14k milesgot them up another £1k which was better!

Love the look of the TFT... but thats very steep £££.

So the Navi6 connection is still there and its interface I assume will be as before ...!?!?
