that video is spot on!!!!!! much happier now im back on 3.1.3 - i'm very impressed, video in post! i can just figure out how to make pictures small enough!

According to the web .... This only effects the 3G not 3GS. Tried freeing up disc space, total restore, re booted a few times. Deleted loads of apps. Still slow as hell. When I press the message app it takes almost 8 seconds to load! Typing text is painful and sluggish. .

Eggzackerly the same here I'm afraid :(

I had initialy decided to wait to get the '4' at Christamas after it gets it's first round of tweaks, however, now my once fab phone has turned into a croc of shite I was resigned to getting a '4' next week when my contract runs out.

I've changed my mind again now, gonna try and put the old op. system back on over the w/e and wait 'til Christmas (or whenever they get the '4' sorted).

Anybody heard the rumours that Apple may be recalling the '4s' over the weekend :nenau

although i can reproduce the antenna problem, i've never noticed it in real use. i've had a bumper on it from new for protection though.
a squillion articles here

now the mainstream media have picked up on the subject, i guess apple will have to do something. if they start giving out free bumpers, as rumoured, i'd like my 25 quid back!

not holding my breath.

The problem going back to 3.1.3 is that many of the apps you have and any new ones you download may not work. That's what has put me off going back. My contract expires in November and to be honest I was in no hurry to get a 4G as my 3G was just what I needed, but now it's dog slow and the 4G in having a '1200GS' moment in it's development :augie I might just go to HTC, along with a few others it seems.

STOP PRESS....

Just noticed there is now a NEW download 4.0.1 or something. Just synching my phone now. Watch this space. It says that it sorts out the signal problem for the 4G but also for the 3G and 3GS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's funny that the consumer report that's done all the testing, and has famously refused to recommend the iphone 4, still gave it the highest score of any smartphone :eek

Kepp us posted :thumb2

Confused by the 'signal problem' re the 3G and 3Gs though - never had an issue on mine

there is apparently a modem modification in the current iOS beta. it's not in 4.0.1. that just adjusts the bar reading. it does nothing for the signal.

Oh :(

Got all excited there and thought it might speed my 3g back up again......

Andres

well, it might (doubt it though).

i am only repeating a rumour relating to the modem driver. don't know why some 3G models run slow. mine seems ok at the moment, but it's not my main phone anymore so it's not getting used much (at all really, apart from trying it out actually). it's loaded up with apps though.

certainly doesn't take 8 seconds to load SMS screen. maybe 4 or 5 seconds, but it seems a long time compared to the 4 :D

edit: more good news for apple.

"it just works" :mmmm

Just thought I would breeze in and see what was happening whilst restoring my 3Gs iWorthelessBastidPhone after a total failure during the upgrade from 4.00 to 4.01 :blast

Bet Bill Gates is having a giggle right now, well maybe in a few hours on account of the time difference.

You can see why 3GS is selling for decent money, but 3G values have fallen.

Well, it took 2 attempts to get the latest software on but got there in the end.

So far, I have a 3G that works like it used to :)

Fingers crossed!
