Anyone any suggestions on upgrading the bulbs in on my 2013 GSA 1200? I have got some HID's on the main light and makes the auxillary lights look like candles compared to them so want an upgrade??? TA

Do you want 'look' from your lights or 'light' from your light...

The former can be achieved with an LED bulb of a similar colour temp to your HID, if it's the latter, where do you need extra light - flood/spot both?

The aux lights have a dipped beam spread. Put HID or powerful LED into all three and you will over light the foreground.

I have a Les Wassal HID 50 in my headlight and seriously do not need any more foreground light. I also have an HID in the main beam and its very good but the angular separation between dip and main beam is too close so when I have an ideal main beam angle my dipped lights will dazzle people. I short when main beam is at it's best, the dipped beam is too high.

I solved the problem with a pair of narrow angle LED spotlights. This only light with main beam and can be angled high enough to throw light well down the road. They us a lot less power so both are powered from one of the old light connection leads. The other lead powers a pair of daylights. I've used some LED halo rings around the same spot lamp lenses.

I had the same issue with my small Wunderlich spots. Looked yellow compared to Les's 50w hid's.
Tried the led bulbs which gave the right colour but waste of time for illumination and went back to candesant bulbs for the spots.
TBH I don't really use them since I got HID's. I've three small, blueish marker leds just under each spot and, along with the hid dip bulb, they get the attention. Read somewhere that three points of lights are more noticeable than two.
If you are buying led bulbs, make sure they'll physically fit your spots. Some are too long for the body of the spot.
Think bendy might be right about BMW ones but it'll cost you.

I would say around 95% I ride during the day light hours and ride with all lights on for obvious reasons. The spots are yellow compared to the headlight so would like to bring a white ish colour to them. Any ideas where I could obtain such a thing? ....TA

I would be similar. Just get a pair of suitable led bulbs from eBay and use them as marker lights.
Make sure they're the right colour and that they'll fit into the housing.
In fact it's got me thinking that I may put the led bulbs back in and do the same. As I said, never use the spots anyway.

do you have the type of bulb and where did you purchase them? its just so I get the right ones that will fit? ....TA

A good high spec LED (or Les Wassall HID 50) in dipped beam will give more than enough foreground light. Then all you need is an ordinary pineapple LED in each spot lamp to act as marker lights.

I was in the same situation, I have a HID headlight and the standard BMW aux lights looked very yellow and had quite a power drain. I bought a pair of HID bulbs for the Aux lights and the difference is night and day ;-)

can you send me the link to where you bought them and which ones? ....TA

I have a light mounting bar that runs under the oil cooler, I've mounted the ballasts on that. The kit is plug and play, no soldering involved. When I bought mine it was £17, that's cheaper than two regular H11 bulbs from halfords! It's very good quality too.
