Upgrading Lights

Having got funds together and just about to pay les I am stuck on which colour to order 5000K or 6000K :blast

In my experience go for the 5K for seeing best or the 6K to show everyone that you've got HID's:D

I think I'm right in saying that maximum light visible to the human eye comes from something like 4.6K:thumb2

I received my 4x 55w HID lights from Les today for my GSA. Took a few hours to install. The only thing I'm not 100% about is the colour of the H7R dip bulb. Anyone have a H7R bulbs? Although the dip H7R was marked 55w 5000K it is actually yellow by comparison to my other 55w HIDs. No K marking on the rest of the bulbs or cases they were supplied in. Is this the characteristic of a H7R bulb that it's slightly yellow compared to other 5000K? Very noticeable when lights shinning on wall in garage. Fogs and Hi beam same colour, dip beam is slightly yellow and not as bright?

Have a look at email number 30 :eek I sent you and then let me know about the colours, also the bulbs burn in after a hour.

In your email you also said you want happy customers. Considering I've just spent almost £400 I don't think being sarcastic to me (as you have been) is helping you achieve that! My question above was a reasonable one. Probably would have gotten my answers in your 13 email replies (alot were pre purchase questions cos info was not on your website) quicker if you were on the phone?

Not meant to be sarcy, it's just we have been doing emails for nearly 12 months and run over the same things so much it has got confusing, like I said if you want to change the bulbs you can, if you want to return you can, I will go with what you would like to do to get the happy customer result.

Thought I would post some pictures to demonstraight the power of these lights.

What I bought
4x HID55w 5000K, Dip is H7R 5000K, LED side light, Bracket, Fuses, Ballasts.
I was impressed how Les has put the kit together, instructions were good.

Nice one, looks good to me. Just reinforces the need, or is that a want, for a pair of Micro DEs on my little bike.
Cheers

Went for my first ride last night and here are the pictures taken in pitch black on the moors looking back to Plymouth, actually just pass Cattover Bridge towards Plympton @ around 10.30pm. I did get flashed a couple of times but it may not have been to do with my lights - giving way + police ahead. Big improvement over standard lights, dissapointed with dip light as it seems lost when the other lights are off, not sure though if changing the bulb will cause oncoming drivers some grief with too much dazzle? Will try and replace with a std 55w rather than 55w H7R. Slow hi beam takes some getting use to, probably will want to do something with that later! Had a "Lampf!" message on my clocks last night, looked it up and it could be the LED sidelight now fitted - will look into that. Best of all is when I have all my lights on, very clear and a joy to ride in the dark. Early days yet but I think having brighter lights makes you feel king of the road cause I had at least one driver give way to me well before they had too, might just have been curtious drivers last night, time will tell? Maybe I was just blinding them with my plasma, over the top lights :D Thanks Les for making it fairly easy for a novice like me!

This image demonstrates how much better the projector dip on the 1150 is over the 1200 item. With the 1150 unit you get a razor sharp cut-off at the top of beam. I'm sure someone will have an image of that.

Great lights you've got there now.:thumb2

Les sent me a std HID 55w 5000K bulb and a replacement LED sidelight as I was not happy about dip colours/brightness and I had a "Lampf!" warning light. "Lampf!" warning light now gone and the dip beam is a better colour and brightness. These photos were taken with same camera, same Auto settings, same place & similar temp conditions. I made the same journey as I did on the 17 December and last night no one flashed me, which was good news. The only photoshop editing I've done to these photos is to crop to size and sharpen, thats it.

I could not take a photo without it over exposing (it does not look this dazzling to oncoming drivers in real life) but this simply shows the colour of HID 55w @ 5000K and what it looks like in pitch black - Pure White light!

Conclusion; It's not a cheap light upgrade but les has been brilliant and I would recommend (as I have already done) his lights to everyone! If I were buying all over again the only thing I would do differently is not to pay the extra £10 for the H7R bulb if you want 100% brightness as H7 imo is better. Other than that I'm very happy with the results. Hope my photos help others to decide!

Good comparison photo's of the H7 and the H7R :thumb2

H7 does look like a lot clearer and brighter.

Edit: where's your snow? :)
