Curently typing on a Samsung R720 but it isn't a small one. Depends what you mean by a small notebook really. If your on about a 12" type thing then think very carefully as not only do they have small screens they generally perform poor because of space and heat restrictions. If you go for 17" though you get a true desktop replacement machine with pretty much the same performance as the equivalent spec desktop. Windows 7 is the way forward, in fact you might find it difficult to get XP now as Microsoft has ended the downgrade deal. On the Samsung front be careful with the spec. If it is win 7 32 bit go for no more than 3GB of ram as you cant use any more than this on 32bit so your wasting your money. If its 64bit you can get as much memory as you like. Mine came with 32 bit (it wasn't mentioned what version it was in the spec) and I was pretty hacked off. I have technet subs so it didnt cost me anything to change but it was a hassle.
