Always had trouble working out how much UPS I need to keep my MacPro running for a reasonable amount of time.
I bought a Trust 1000VA UPS from maplin and, when the power goes out, it keeps my MacPro and a mid-sized LCD screen going for about 2 mins. Admittedly, there are 6 disk drives in it and a bunch of usb devices, but 2 mins from 1000VA seems pisspoor.
The numpty in the shop (in Thanet, so my hopes weren't high
) seemd to think that 2 min to save and exit a modern computer or get the power back was normal.
