URGENT help need for mechanical idiot.

Engine braking will be reduced if something is holding the revs high.

On an 11xx, the symptoms noted would be consistent with throttle cable seating or inlet air leaks.

Look at where the throttle cables meet the throttle bodies and make sure the cables ends are properly seated.

Check that the little rubber bungs that seal the vacuum take-off's on the throttle bodies are in place (the ones that you connect gauges to when balancing the throttles).

Check the connections of the throttle bodies to the inlet stubs on the cylinders and the air intakes to the throttle bodies.

Caveat: I've never messed with a 1200 (but the checks above can't hurt)

Edit: or as you're in that there London, book it in to Steptoe.

Well, I've checked all the connections and found that I can't get the spark plugs out so I fitted the accelerator module that I was going to fit anyway, I'll go out later, I can't be arsed now and don't want this weekend to be any more shite than it's already started off.

Don't get downhearted. They're machines and bits and pieces wear out and need attention every now and again.

In your position and being in London, I'd just give Steptoe a call and book your bike in. I'd bet that paying for an hour of his time will sort your bike out - there's no one knows more about BM's than him.

cheers
Matt
