URGENT HELP REQUIRED PLSE - Zumo 550 fitting to 2006 1200 GS

If you wire it direct to the battery you'll furr up the power pins. Steptoe (ISTR) posted pics of what happens a while back.

Don't know why you're not keen on wiring it to the battery - most do it this way.

Used the headstock socket on all three can-bus equiped bikes so far. Dead easy

Thanks for that... all I have is a tightly cloth wound loom so I guess (or hope) that unpicking the cover will unearth the socket!

I took the tank off for just that reason, there was no sight of the socket anywhere.

zumo on 1200GS

I have wired my zumo direct to the battery running the wiring behind the l/h side panels The garmin lead has an inline mini or micro fuse fitted.I do not use a switch and the mount is pemanently live.With the proviso that I cover the mount with a plastic bag if the bike is parked with the zumo off in damp conditions.The zumo mount is held on a RAM mount 4" leg off the l/h bar.Good location for access to the zumo screen.
