Urgent: temp replacement for oil cap

A person traveling with me has misplaced their plastic oil cap while topping up oil. Bike is an hexhead.

Long story short: nearest dealer is about 80km away.
Tomorrow morning we will call them, but I'll also hit an hardware store to see if I can find something with a similar size/thread to be used in lieu of the cap.

Asking the hivemind knowledge here: are there any known solutions (corks, coins, baguette, vibrators) that have been employed before.

In my experience I only had a fucked up oil cap gasket on my old 1150 and it was a pain in the ass (for that day). Used to travel with a spare gasket with the tools, but that's it.

it will be like those plastic hub caps that used to disappear. Every town had n-1 sets as one car was always missing a set. A lad we fostered used to be the thief in Monmouth. He sold the same set of hub caps to loads of Ford owners over a 2 year period in the late 80s whilst with he previous carers. We lived in the country so he had fewer opportunities.

Get one of those plumbers tapered rubber bungs.

Aluminium foil - make a bung by compressing it into shape. Then screw it in. It will 'self tap' it's way in - for the duration

Shove the cork in then gaffer tape it or pull ties to hold it tight

Maybe put it in a plastic bag, you don’t want bits of it going around in the motor

He put the cap on the pannier lid.
Somehow he flipped the lid and launched the cap against the wall, where there is some pipework for the hotel A/C, protected by a metal structure.

Guess what? It fell behind and we cannot find it or pull it out.

I’m not sure he’d be able to do it again if he wanted.
