USB / Cigarette lighter socket power points.

I'm sure I read (on here possibly) that a USB / Cigarette lighter socket power point put a small drain on the battery if connected directly. Even though there is nothing connected to it.

Or did I dream it

No, you are correct.

You are converting 12v to 5v dc and there is a small inherent loss - even with nothing connected to the USB
