In a Remote area apparently.
OK peeps, I fitted a USB lead thru my Centech fuse board to run my Gopro which uses a battery eliminator. But having fitted a new Motobatt I was wondering why it was flat after a week or two. I then read about another members problems with a USB lead doing the same so I disconnected it.....hey presto battery is fine. What solution would be easiest for having it connected and not draining the battery ? Ta, Del

USB takes a constant draw, don't know why, so you have to attach it to the ignition, otherwise, it's on all the time, whether or not you have anything plugged in.

Yeah I found that out after it flattened my new bloody Motobatt !

There is an internal resistance (and therefore - load) in the 12v/5v converter - which will constantly draw current. You need to connect it to a switched outlet, as previously mentioned.

Is your battery recoverable?

Battery is fine Al, I put the Ctech on it and left it for a few days to let it do its thing, its brand new BTW. Now im thinking there was probably feck all wrong with the original because it was flat all the time AFTER I fitted the USB but it didn't cross my mind that it would do that so I fitted new battery

Fit a fuse box and drive its main power supply from the battery via a relay. Switch the relay from an ignition controlled circuit.

Centech already fitted bendy. My problem is I did a few things at the same time and just blamed a duff battery when in fact it turns out it was the USB lead that caused the problem. I will fit a relay and switched live, but where would the best place be to tap into a suitable switched live ?
