Used a spray wash and now have white furry residue and wheels gone white tinge

SDoc100 products are brilliant. They do a chain cleaner which works in the same way; spray it on, leave it for 10-15 minutes, use a brush if it's very dirty, then watch the transformation! They also do a chain lube, and guarantee virtually no flick, and I have to say, it's the best one I've used over the years, by far.:beerjug:
hexhead/chain?

I use muck off on my R1200. The only part affected are the bar weights which if you apply some elbow grease clean up

Muc Off is the devil's spawn. SDoc100 is the way to go

I think it's the Silicon in the Muc Off that causes issues.
I use TFR but you have to be really careful with that too as it can adversely affect bare Aluminium.

The key to Muc Off is to follow the instructions - I've used it for years with no problems....

People put it on dry - mistake wet the bike first.

People leave it to dry - mistake keep it wet.

People leave it on too long - mistake work in sections..

It's not rocket science..

I do!

As long as you read the instructions it's great stuff. Been using it for years and my 6 year old 20,000 GS looks as good as new. Like every thing in life use the product as instructed and it will be fine. Use it on a hot day and/or let it dry and you only have yourself to blame. I wash my bike on sections wrinsing off every couple of minutes.

Just my opinion. Other opinions are also available :augie

You beat me to it twizzle. Shall we start the MucOff owners fan club. I have a spare telephone box for our meeting..........,

Im in, well possibly not the phone box but the muc off club sounds good..

Sdoc100 - bloody expensive for a bottle of weird goo but it works brilliantly.

I had this when using Muck Off on my 1150 GSA. All the black parts went grey.
I now use SDoc 100 gel cleaner. Amazing stuff. Available from Infinity Motorcycles. Doesn't leave any residue at all.
Cheers for the info on the wash.

Thanks for the comments with some advice.
After going to the garage this morning, it looked a bit better from coating the bike liberally with Scotoil 365 overnight.
The wheels looked black and shiny, although I could still see a bit ow grey underneath.
So as advised by 'all year biker' I used some ACF 50 and spent a bit of time gently rubbing the rims and it looks a great deal better.
I suppose the proof of the pudding will be when I do come to wash it we will see if it's still there.
I have booked in with 'all year biker' for the ACF 50 treatment professionally applying and then I should be in a bit better position.
I think I'll also have a look at replacing a few of the bolts etc that are tarnished so I can keep a better eye on any further corrosion.
Of coarse I'll steer well clear of that type of cleaner in the future.
Cheers
Richard

I always dilute these strong cleaners at least by 50/50 as does my local dealer .works just as well (unless oil from chain is the issue )saves cost .

Another vote for SDoc 100. Getting it was a bit of a problem but it should be easier now infinity have a shop in Glasgow;)

I've bout a snow foamer attachment for the jet wash, so will try foaming the bike with Sdoc100 next time. Pictures to follow!:green gri

Jet wash. Cheap car shampoo. Jet wash. ACF 50. Job done.

Clean wire spoke rims and hubs bit by bit with a tooth brush and WD40. Its a pain in the arse.

To help you with your grey rims problem .....

Good old fashioned black boot polish will be your friend. It'll help replenish the lost finish in your black anodised rims. Rub it in, buff it off just like you would with your boots ;)

Despite any comments you might read to the contrary ..... it works and will last about a year before you need to reapply!

Sounds a great idea and packed around the spoke holes should keep corrosion at bay.
