Acting on information gathered from other parts of the forum, I have just spent twenty minutes trying to improve the spread of the dipped beam on my '05 GS. No matter what I twiddle, it doesn't seem to make any difference. If I point the bike at the garden wall the beam doesn't seem to move and trying to light up the garden is the same. Any advice would be most helpful. Cheers.

How do you do that then?

Does it involve changng the bulb position or modifying the reflector or something?

My first 1200 had a really crap spread of light which also refused to adjust out, in the end I improved the pattern (i think) by bending the dip bulb's tags to angle the bulb slightly

I find the 12GS headlight perfectly acceptable as is.

You just have to accept that you don't have the same level of observation as you would have in daylight, and adjust your riding accordingly.

You lot should try riding any recent Triumph in the dark. Even my Sprint RS (with both on) was piss poor at night.

And another thing. I really really dislike the current trend towards blinding all oncoming traffic with various types of OE and aftermarket lights on both cars and bikes. Its just not necessary.

I had someone on a 12GSA almost blind me last month and that was during the day. (Between Tewkesbury and Ledbury - was it you?).

Responding to Dahoum's enqiry, the knobs I have mostly been twiddling with are the one in the centre of the headlight assembly (behind the adjusting lever) and the knurled one at the top right of the assembly, as seen from sitting on the bike.
