Using an i pod on a bike

Tried using my ipod on the bike last night, but had trouble with the earpeices under my helmet etc.

Has anybody tried moulded earpieces?

Also is there anything on the market for mounting an ipod on the handlebars, and being able to control it with gloves on?

Any feedback appreciated!

how about

a £32 shuffle, works fine and you can put it anywhere, not the end of the world if you loose or drop it.

If your going to use an iPod Classic or ones with a proper hard drive DON'T mount them on the bars, the vibration will eventually kill the iPod. This dosen't apply to the little Pods as they're solid state.

I've got Sat Nav, iPod, phone, two video cameras and a digital still camera mounted on my bike. The auido stuff goes through a combination of Zumo and Autocom, the cameras are controlled trhough handlebar mounted switches. I carry the Pod in my tank bag or in my jacket, the phone is linked to the Zumo via Bluetooth.

I tried one but decided that there was too many things bolted to the handlebars......

It's a Ram Aqua box.

I now just use a water-proof cover and chuck the iPod in the handlebar bag.

As the guys on here have alreasy said - you can mount an ipod using ram mount arm and the aqua box but the big ipods with hard drives don't like it due to the vibration/water and it also killed mine. I now just use a nano in a waterproof pouch inside the waterproof pocket on my jacket.

In terms of earphones - I tried all sorts and the best solution is the custom moulded in ear ones, superbly comfortable for hours and awesome sound response. Expensive initially but pay for themselves afeter one long trip i reckon.

Ipod

Have ultimate in ear monitors which I think are brilliant on the bike good noise reduction and the sound quality is fine as well. I just put my Ipod classic in my inside jacket pocket so I can get on and off the bike without having to remeber to unplug myself. Just bought a cheap radio remote control from ebay and that will start and stop the ipod I just have it on shuffle songs most of the time. seems to work fine for me but I know there are other controllers available that have the full range of functions but I wasn't too sure how they would work with gloves on and they are £50 ish quid so a bit expensive just to see if they work..

Same here - Ultimate ear moniters - custom earplugs with speakers in them.

Ipod in pocket with remote clipped onto my jacket. No leads or wires anywhere, and i can get on and off the bike without all the palaver of unplugging/plugging in.

Velcro the control box (neat and small) somewhere handy. Had mine for over three years, stays mounted 24/7 got wet, cold, boiled and never missed a beat.

Pretty much the same as Wapping - Belkin Sportcommand remote control (£15 ebay) velcro'd to inside of handguard, Ipod classic on shuffle in a waterproof bag (£5 sainsburys) connected through autocom. Audio lead long enough for either bar bag or tank bag.

I`ve been really impressed with mine. I need a remote though as I put mine in the tank bag so I`m attached to the bike
