Well I've got the engine front cover off as it was terrible.

It's been blasted and the corrosion was deep! (no I'm not buying a new one).
So before I use the Hammerite Special Metals primer/Smooth Silver treatment,
can I smooth things out a bit with filler (Davids Isopon?) and will this take engine temperatures?

As helpful as to be expected, i don't expect many, if any have filled their engine cover with car body filler.

An excellent condition used front cover is only about £35-£40. :augie

by the time you have put a couple of coats of acid etch primer and a couple of coats with the hammerite if the pits are that deep you have to fill them i would question the strength/thickness of the actual casing and wonder is it fit for purpose:nenau
