Hi just installing my new HID from Les and very excited. Seen a few bikes with HID lights and daytime lights which give the bike much more pressence. The bike projects a light triangle when driving and is very noticeable. Would like to fit some spots and was wondering has anyone tried an LED H1 or H3 bulb in Hella DE or FF50 setup? Not as good as an HID but easier to fit and cheaper. I have opted for the 6000k HID light and trying to match something up. Also noticed that BMW is now using LED lights for the new bike and is a £390 option :(.

I got some LED spots from ebay - 27w single mode (important you don't choose the ones with flashing modes). About £60/pair IIRC. Very very bright, even with HIDs

I've had a look also and can't find them.

You can see them if you search this site as there's a guy selling the same ones at £60 each :augie

The ones on eBay are £23 each and come from Hong Kong. Quite a few tossers have bought them with no problems.

Thanks would be interested in link as well. Further is anyone has used any the LED bulbs that would be good as well.

I got some HID converted FF50 spots from Les Wassel. Absolutlely awesome. I have them wired directly in with the main beam. it's like driving in daylight.

However make sure it is the FF50 spots you get and not the DE fog lights which IMHO are worse than useless..all they do is glare back at you from the reflective road signs...:aidan

I too have been looking to replace the standard H3 bulbs with LEDs. I use the Heller DE Fogs for no more than presense on the road. And having a HID dipped beam want my fogs to 'colour match' rather than be shown up as the yellow against the HIds that they are.

I can't afford HIDs so - has anyone tried LED replacemets?

Hid kits are £40 or less on ebay, delivered. I HID'd my main and dipped beam for less than that, and have kits sitting on my desk to HID both the FF50's and DE's. Each kit was under £40, though you need to either make or buy some adapter plates for the DE's.

You can replace with H3 bulbs with an HID "colour". Plenty around that have a 6000k colour.

I also faced this decision recently. I ended up choosing a lightbar and 2 x 55w halogen spots. I chose halogens over HID largely due to cost. I can’t comment on LEDs.

Member “How Much” of this parish pre-assembles kits; lights, bar and switch, at a very agreeable price, search the Vendors thread. I ordered mine this weekend so can’t comment on build quality or fitting yet, but there were good reviews
