Hi All,
Just acquired a tidy V-strom 650 and looking for stuff like hugger, taller screen, crash bars, sump guard/bash plate, Givi / Shad rear rack adaptor plate kit to enable use of their monokey top box. What yer got please for the 2017 onwards facelifted bike, mine is a 2024 but the same incarnation.

I bought one of the last run out models.
A search didn't throw up many accessories for sale!

Cosmo make a very affordable centre stand and if you look on the VStrom site there is a discount code so it costs just over £100. It is beautifully made.
I bought some hand guards from Ali Express. The plastic guards were OK but the fitting kit was sort of generic nuts and bolts which you could get to fit. I returned everything for a refund and bought the genuine ones which fitted perfectly. Unfortunately, Suzuki genuine accessories are very expensive. The handlebar brace is around £140!
Givi crash bars are easy to fit, but much vibration is commonly reported - supposedly coming from the centre joining piece which I feel is a bit of a Heath Robinson effort. Heed bars are highly regarded. I've got the Givi engine bars, and I wrapped the centre joint with some electrical tape to stop vibration and it has helped. I sourced mine from abroad - they may have come from a Spanish or Italian dealer, but they were £50 cheaper than from the UK.
Front fender extender - Ali express. All good!
Givi monokey topbox plate. I had a generis plastic plate from another bike and while I could get it to fit, I wasn't happy with it. The genuine Givi plate is a metal plate, with several spacers and 2 support bars under it. It is a nice bit of kit, easy to fit, but not cheap at around £120. I got mine from SportsbikeShop.
Goog luck with your hunting!

Thanks Adrian,
Mine has only done 3000 miles and at 18montns old was the newest I could find at reasonable price, dealers seem to be asking silly money now for late models.

As the XT model it has OEM hand guards and a plastic lower engine cover thingy which I would look to replace with a proper sump guard covering the underside too. Been looking on Ali Express etc, probably going to go for genuine Givi plate and whatever quality crash bars I can source. Got Heed bars on another bike so know they are good for the price.

As you say some bits are quite expensive so hope to find used parts in top condition to match that of the bike which I feel will be long term prospect so worth getting the right parts from the outset.

This is my 3rd V-strom, but the last one went a while back with all the bling on it as the buyer wanted it complete.

Happy riding mate.

Be careful with bash plates and engine bars - they are not all compatible together!
Out of all the bikes I’ve had, I must admit the VStrom is one of the most enjoyable and easiest bikes to ride. It is pretty well anonymous, but just does the job!
Good luck and enjoy your farkling!
