V100 Stelvio caught testing.

Same here, wrinkly.

Certainly one competitor will be the R1300GS which has 30% more power and weighs a little less, is available with more options and tech, but likely will cost more. Other than price and headlight :) why should we consider the Stelvio?
I'm sure the R1300gs is a fantastic bike, but even if it was the same price as the Stelvio, I wouldn't be buying it. You either get it or you don't.

I wish it were so easy for me because for the most part I "get" both, but I am leaning more toward a base Stelvio.

They like it .

I reckon the standard bike will be released early next year. Early 2025 will see the NTX version which will have semi active suspension, larger tank and luggage. Just like they did with the original Stelvio.
My order is in, just got to decide, do I sell my V100 now or just P/Ex when the time comes ?
Well that didn't take long!

wrinkleyowlie, were you able to actually order it from your dealer or are you in line for one when they receive inventory? I wonder if Guzzi themself will have an early order program like they did with the Mandello? Here it involved ordering with the colour and options directly through Guzzi along with $1,000 deposit and selecting the dealer to have it delivered to.

Steve has the dealer on speed dial and a bell rings on the dealer’s desk when he calls:D

Just tell my dealer I'll have one. No need for a deposit. If I don't want it when they arrive, no problem. I have a very good relationship with my dealer.

Yes I gathered this from harry! :) Will you keep the Mandello and V85TT?

My dealer, who also sells BMW so the new 1300GS is what they're obsessed with at the moment, in one breath said "I have no deposits for a Stelvio yet so if you put one down you'll have the first one". To "Guzzi may well control the initial orders themselves like they did for the V100 Mandello."

If I get the Stelvio I won't keep either the V100 or the V85. To be honest I'm struggling a bit with the V100. I had a very bad case of cellulitis last year (4th time) and it has permanently damaged the venus return in my left leg. This means that my left leg at times can be very swollen and I need to stop every 50 miles on the V100 and walk around for 10 mins to get the blood flowing in my leg again. No such problem on the V85. I am seriously considering selling the V100. It is a fabulous bike but sadly, due to my leg, it's not for me.
Hopefully the riding position on the Stelvio whill be very similar to the V85.
Any one fancying a V100S. Give me a call you could get a bargain.

From what I'm gathering the first Stelvios are to ship here in December for arrival late in the month or early January. The price will be $16,390 but keep in mind our prices do not include tax or shipping. For reference this is $900 more than a base V100 Mandelo and $1,100 less than a Mandelo S.

The following are included:
Cruise control
5.5 (US) gallon or 21L tank for 250 mile range
An extra "off-road" mode over the Mandelo. In off road ABS can be turned off. (Hopefully TC as well?)
Electrically adjustable shield.

Optional:
Plastic panniers 30l LH, 29l RH.
Heated grips
Heated seats in all 3 heights
Center stand
Aux lights
TPMS
Quickshifter
Radar cruise/safety suite

It undercuts a base R1300GS by $3,500 which is probably where it needs to be priced, neither will have electronic suspension, radar, etc.

If I do get the Stelvio ? One of the first things I will do is to get it wrapped in a scheme as close to the Guardia D'onore livery as I can. I really don't care for either colour scheme and have always loved the Guzzi black and white schemes.

I don't think I'm interested in the electronic suspension, unless the standard suspension is pretty bad. The suspension works perfectly on my V85 so if what they put on the Stelvio is equal I'm fine with that. Compression damping would be welcome though. My R1200GSA had electronic suspension that would work ok then become very harsh, I was always disconnecting the battery to reset it.

Looks very good...... EICMA
I wouldn't go with the MG luggage though, or Radar 🙄 quickshifter yes. 21L tank, so less than my V85's 23L
Heavier than new GS as well. No price as yet.

Nice hearing cornering lights come standard, I missed that. Needless to say I'm anxious to hear longer ride reviews and also how it compares to the 1300GS. We know it's down on power and slightly heavier, but for real world riding and living with.

I would be torn between using the factory panniers or waiting for aftermarket to come up with top load boxes. Top load are easier to load and your stuff doesn't tend to spill out when opening the lid as on side load ones. But top load cases all seem to require massive mounts made of steel tubing that are bolted on the sides of the bike. They certainly detract from the bike when the panniers are not on, and when the boxes are on they look just like that, aluminum boxes.

Benefits of factory panniers are the mounts are unobtrusive when off, and when on the panniers tuck in well. With a duffel strapped across the rear seat/rack and over the panniers, you can still open the panniers. So factory or wait for Bumot? Hmmmm...........
