V100 Stelvio fog lights into standard bike wiring

Hi,

I have a Stelvio and I wanted to add fog lights using the bike's factory wiring. The bike has a 3-pin connector in front of the battery labelled fog lights. The wires are earth, 12V on ignition and a switched wire from the light switch on the handlebar. The OEM lights come with a standard relay. My setup is the same, BUT when connecting the fog lights the switched 12V wire only seems to provide 5.77V... So the fog lights only work on reduced steam.

Has anyone come across this can I do anything else other going straight to the 12V off the battery?

I have a Denali Dialdim, wiring to Denali S4. Great setup. Can dim the aux lights as drl's, and put them up to full blast (very bright those Denalis).

I have a pair of Denali S4 on my Guzzi V85TT

They're far too bright to use (unless on full beam) for normal riding without a dimmer. For the last couple of years I have been using a Skene IQ-275 dimmer which has been great. I have the S4's on at 20% brightness all the time as DRL. This is bright enough for extra visibility (for drivers to see you, when riding with the bike's DRL on only). I live down country lanes, so when using full beam I get the full brightness. It's been a very good setup.

Last time I was out on the Guzzi, the S4's were not working. The Skene had failed. I...

Whilst the switching wire could well be 5v, I would have expected the live to be 12v + with the engine running. As I understand it, the OE aux wiring loom is plug & play so there shouldn't be any coding issues.

Looking at the wiring diagram/setup of the OE system I would say the fog lights have a relay & adapter of their own (No.14 & 15 in the pdf posted by squibb34 above) which will be where your issue is at present if you don't have it wired how it was meant to be from the factory. The 12v live needs to go to the relay, the switched live needs to go to the relay and then the output from the relay needs to go to the lights. I suspect your swithed 12v live which drops to 5v is a CAN switched live so will only work through a switch already assigned on the bike so a relay is required.

I've got the OEM kit on my Stelvio and the fitting kit does come with the relay and connecting cables. The fitting kit is available as a separate item so could make fitting alternate lamps an easier job. Retail is £84 but can be found cheaper.

Yes, I bought a Denali Trigger Wizard which I thought would act as a relay (like it does on Africa Twins and T7's which have a similar set-up).but it didn't work on the Guzzi (I even talked to Denali help desk).
The Trigger Wizard is still for sale on these pages....

Just got a mail about these Hex EzCan Pure accessory managers now, still a chunk of cash at £170 but should work with modern Guzzi's, so would bring the same sort of functionality you get on the BMW / Honda versions

I was looking at the EZCAN Pure for my Mrs 's new Honda Hornet. I have some Denali S4 lying around and was wondering what the best way to control them would be.....
