Value of high-mileage 06 GSA?

I think the time's come to trade her in for a younger model. Now done 75,000 since I bought new, one of the first 1200 GSA's.

I've no real idea of value - i.e. how big a factor the mileage is? A little ragged, but all straight (dropped but never pranged) and mechanically runs sweet. Would be without luggage, as I intend taking the Jesse panniers on to a new DOHC. Had intended waiting for the forthcoming WC, but I've now come to my senses and decided beta-testing is not for me :eek

I'll take a look on eBay. I flicked through 173 GS's on MCN's website and there was only one even close to mine, the majority being in their teens.

You reckon eBay's the better option? Classifieds or auction? My last attempt at selling a vehicle on eBay (auction) failed, but I got the asking price when I parked it in a lay-by. Maybe not with a bike tho....

In the US, bikes with no reserve and a somewhat low starting-bid price seem to generally sell pretty well. Don't know if this applies in the UK, though.

I wouldn't be put off by a high mileage(shows the bikes capable of doing the miles)

The mileage is nowt if serviced correctly.
Be as honest as possible if asked question about condition.
Like said, some folk like the higher mileage vehicles.
 
Listen mate. Ignore this lot. They know bugger all. It's only worth about £2K but as you are a fellow 'tosser', and you are obviously a nice guy, I'll take it off your hands for £2500 :D. :hide
 
eBays your best option with a high mileage bike. Auction with a lowish starting bid (£3k ? ). I did this having advertised on here for weeks with no interest. Sold for a lot more than I was expecting to eastern europe.
 
After getting lots of "Will you take £5,000 for a quick sale?" last year when selling a 30,000m one.............

I would say £5,500 absolute maximum, and at that price - you might find yourself waiting a short while for a sale. Not sure how attractive UK prices are to our continental cousins these days, with the £/€ being what it is?

Thanks guys, I'll be selling in a week or two, will give it a try on here and eBay auction I think. Engine and gearbox as sweet as new still :D, and nowt twisted - Worst bit's the odometer!

And it'll have brand spanking new shocks cos I'm taking the nearly-new Wilbers to the new'un :) I tried a ESA demo yesterday, and was surprised at just how good the Wilbers felt in comparison.
 
Only downside to e-bay auction is the large % you will loose in fees. You won't get that reduction with the e-bay classifieds just fixed initial cost.
