Vamos ! 🇵🇹

I have ridden that road and whilst I admit it is very good my preference is still the N112

And having said that the best road in the world for me is the N221 along the Douro valley

I have also ridden into pueblo de Saab on the road you used and it is interesting for sure but not as good as the 925

Good luck getting through or round Ponferada which often turns into a nightmare as they close roads for markets etc
Ha ha . We rode the N221 yesterday . It was ok . Good job we’re all different !!

it needs a big fuck off KTM on that road for it to be fully appreciated

I alo find it better going south to Alva than north

Having just ridden the N621 from
Riano to Potes again , it’s got to be right up there with best roads anywhere .
I know many on here have done it and I’ve done it pretty much every year for the last decade .
Doing it in both directions again tomorrow as going to Cain for lunch .
But it packs a huge amount in to 45 miles , starting with lakes then the gorge and up and over the Puerto de San Gloria passing the bear and roe deer statues .
Also goes past my favourite bar Pico Tres Provincias in Portilla de La Reina.

Went with wife 7 years ago and the pub dog snuggled up on her for 30 minutes

Seen him most years since and made my day to see he is still there

IMG_7370.jpeg

He even came over for a cuddle .

Got fuel in Potes and these British beauts were there

IMG_7379.jpegIMG_7378.jpeg

I’ll take the Renault 5 GT Turbo, ta 😜

Potes was mobbed .
So pleased we never stay there but instead head up the road to the oasis and calm of the Del Oso

IMG_7380.jpeg

There’s always a table booked for dinner and the food is fabulous, as is sitting on the terrace in my favourite sofa with a large G & T.
No scrum in Potes searching out a table on a busy weekend . Sod that !!

We enjoyed Portugal but I much prefer Spain . I find the people are friendlier and pulling into the Del Oso car park I almost feel a sense of calm descending on me .
Previous visits to Portugal were similar. But of course the highlight was having lunch with att and co in his little piece of paradise .
He’s not bull shitting when he describes it as such.

Anyway , balcony doors open

It was 31 degs in Portugal this morning and in Spain until we crossed the Picos.

Now a pleasant 26.

Might have a swim .

I must stay at the del Oso one year as I usually go up to the parador at Fuente De

It’s fabulous . My 6th time here .
We looked at Parador de Fuente De a few years back and had a drink there . I love most paradors but found it a bit soulless and looks like a bunker .
I’m sure the rooms are nice though .

Huge G&T on the terrace .

I’ve said it before , but I’ve stayed in hotels all over the world due to my job , which are mainly soulless concrete clones,
but this has got to be one of my top three favourites, if not number one .

And it’s about €77 per night

Leg of lamb tonight . Utterly delicious

Even came with a free meal for the lanky Lithuanian 😜

Agree about the deal Oso, an oasis of dignified calm. We had a room in the extension across the road last year which has a really nice, peaceful drawing room on the ground floor, a great, cool space.
And the gins and meals are just right. Even when it’s busy it’s calm.

You've said it many times before buddy! :)

Special places for special memories dept. you've reminded my of one of my 'Get be the f¨**k outta here!' songs :) It used to serve as tennis ball crushing therapy for me back in the day ...

Morning

Nice cool start to the day .
Had the balcony doors open all night with the gentle sound of the stream outside .

Easy day today.
Up and over the mighty N621 again to visit Cain for lunch . Never been but Ricky Vida featured it in his vlogs. Its a small village at a dead end road down a beautiful valley .

IMG_7408.jpeg
Might get the drone up too .

Now in Potes .
Nice ride back over on the 621.

Unfortunately someone ran out of luck/talent just below the roe deer statue and binned their shiny new WankPanzer. It’s now a triple fucked edition . They were up and about , though we did see the ambulance heading up to them.

Shame Scoopie doesn’t drink so can’t share one of these

IMG_7459.jpeg

I’ll make do with a small bottle .

Fabulous chilled out day .

Cheers

Never get tired of this view heading up to Cosgaya

Dinner in hotel tonight then we leave the Picos and start heading home .
San Sebastián tomorrow night . Pintxos !!!
I love that road up to Fuente De

Whilst you could go very fast and have a lot of fun on it I fid it just lovely to bimble up at a steady 50 - in fact it has got to the point where for a laugh we set the cruise control to 50 and only knock it off for the couple of small villages

Coming down in the morning is he same just lovely to use as a tyre warming exercise

Dinner tonight .

Cocina Montanes.

Basically a delicious been stew with various meats and black pudding

Utterly delicious and unbelievably served as a starter but it’s three whole bowls full so I have it as a main .
Will be farting like a trooper later 😀
