Vario back box (tent) mods?

Does anyone have a clever, easy and cheap way of strapping a tent to the top of the box?

All back safe and sound, we didn't go in the end, we went and had a look but it was getting late and we decided to have a zip around the country instead.

hi,

i usually just tie my tent across the back seat against the top box, but if your two up that rules that out, ....

i (and a couple of mate ) have just bought some non slip matting from the pound shop and placed that on the top of the top box and then bungeed the tent on, never budged at all and used it like that in all weathers, thats the cheapest option.

i have seen small racks that bolt directly to the lid of your top box to attatch extra bits to..

I have mounted 4 tie down points on top of my vario lid, think I got them from aerostitch eons ago for another project.
The lid outer is a skin and can be separated from the box so I have mounted mine on the ridges which allows room underneath for the nuts without having to drill right through the box lid.
That said I use mine for w/proofs and other light stuff, heavier items like tents mounted there will affect the handling.
