vario mounting and Z-technik headlight protector question.

Picked up a 2013gs lc today so standby for lots of daft questions....

first up does anybody know if the vario topbox off a 2010 gs can be fitted to a 2013 gs lc, with an adaptor plate obviously?.
The holes on the 2010 plate dont line up with the holes in the lc rack so I need another plate, simple enough so far, but not sure if the old box has the same mounting points underneath.


Has anybody used the Z-technik head light protector? Looks like it covers the entire unit so no problem wth trying to clean behind it or scratch the lens.

Sent the topbox question to an online bmw parts supplier and was told that the plate for the GS LC is not compatible with the older box.

Are there any ways around it? I have a perfectly good vario box and dont want to spend another £300 on another one.

I have a 2010 Vario topbox on my LC, though I did make an adaptor plate out of 6mm aluminium to take the topbox mount. Not too difficult (though not a work of art), drilled and tapped mounting holes to suit the LC rack and similar for the topbox mount plate.
